I am currently using the JA Bistro Template which I love the design and I’ve modified it quite a bit design wise, however, I’m running into a problem with space since the template is narrow.

I’d like to add a left column to the template so I have more room for modules on both left and right sides.

Currently there is a position called left but it is BELOW the main content so it doesn’t really do me much good there. I’d like to either move that left column up to the top left parallel to the right column or create a new one. I’m relatively new to joomla and I’ve read some articles on how to accomplish this but so far I haven’t been able to do so.

Any ideas on how I can move or create a left column so I can add modules to the left side?
