Hi –
This is my first time using Joomla and I could use some help!
(FYI – I do have a 2 year Website Design Diploma, 8 years freelance website design experience, and 20 years overall computer experience.)
I now have Joomla 1.5 installed on my web host (siteground.com) and uploaded the JA Avian II files.
How do I access the files to modify and install them?
In the tutorials, it says to go to Joomla Administrator, but there is no link and somehow Joomla Administrator doesn’t show up in Google ?!?!
Please let me know what I need to do, and PLEASE update the installation tutorial.
Thank you.

July 7, 2008 at 3:02 pm #258358go to yoursite.com/administrator. Log in there with your username and password.
Then go to Extensions>Template manager> choose the template and press edit at top right. There you have options to edit the template itself.NOTE: Not really sure what you want to do here. Since you have uploaded the template files, but to where?
And you need help to install them?
Give us a clear step by step guide on what you have done so far?July 7, 2008 at 5:09 pm #258388Hi Menalto –
Thanks for the quick response.
I went to http://www.artsbymalia.com/administrator and got
404 Not Found
I went to http://www.artsbymalia.com/cpanel and logged in, however I can’t find anything that says Extensions.
FYI – http://www.siteground.com is an award-winning Joomla webhost.
Note: I uploaded the Avian II files by FTP
What do I do now?

July 8, 2008 at 12:55 pm #258559Hi writetomemaliab
You need to install before access to your site
You can read User guide to install steps by steps, then you go to http://www.yoursite.com/administrator, login by admin account to manage your site
RegardsJuly 8, 2008 at 6:15 pm #258613Hi nguoiabcd –
I actually have installed already.
The user’s guide only helps if you can log into “administrator”, and I haven’t been able to do that yet.

Joomla is not installed yet.
My guess is that you havent installed joomla yet but only uploaded the files.
Go to: http://www.artsbymalia.com/installation/index.php and follow the steps to install joomla.
After that remove your installation direcory!, leaving your site like it is now with installation on is a security risk itself.
Might be a good thing to start experimenting with joomla first before going further with any templates.
July 9, 2008 at 12:00 am #258658Hi bennitos –
So far your suggestions have been the most helpful.
I got to the Joomla installation pages and got stuck with an error that said I have to delete Joomla on my FTP, so I went in and deleted everything in my public_html file, and went back to find:
The requested URL /installation/index.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Uh oh!
Okay, what do I do now?
Thanks for your help so far…

July 9, 2008 at 12:01 am #258659FYI – Ignore ” Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL ”
I figured that part out.
I do still need help with the installation though.

This is what you have done so far:
1. uploaded the joomla files to your ftp
2. installed joomla with this url: http://www.artsbymalia.com/installation/index.php
3. after installation joomla notifies you to delete the installation directory NOT joomla itself.
What you have done is install joomla and then removed it again. You should have only deleted the public_html/installation director and you would have been finished.
Now you basicly have to start over again. Upload the files again, do an installation with the http://www.artsbymalia.com/installation/index.php and after that connect with ftp to your site and delete ONLY the installation folder in your public_html folder

July 15, 2008 at 12:16 am #259760FYI – It turns out there was a problem with the FTP at Siteground.
BTW – I got two email confirmations through Fantastico that Joomla 1.5 was installed
– however it was installing into the wrong directory.Ruben – Que lastima que tu no estas simpatico como la mayoria de los que yo encontre en Barcelona.
