I am trying to add a new div to the section right next to my logo in the template so that I can put a jpg in that section (see attached screen shot as an example)

Prior to T# 3 I would add the new div to the index.php file and then publish a new module position to that new div. How can I do this with the new T3 template? I think I have to edit the header.php file to add the new div, where is this file? Is there a better way to accomplish what I am trying to do?

you can copy and modify header.php in your local folder

add a div and then modify eventually template.css
