    Hi venkat,

Just go to the Admin (back end), for Joomla 1.5x-Teline II:

Administrator => Extensions => Modules Manager (click to be transported to list of modules) => JA News => (click to be transported to JA News edit page)

    Find (right side)

Group by Category or Section (select Section)

    13:red
    14:orange
    8:deepblue
    12:cyan
    5:green
    9:pink
    11:lime
    etc,

Just change to the desired color you want, using one of the recommended colors, to create a monocolor site. Do not use other colors other than those specified because each of the above colors has its own css

The default HomePage color is gray, several posts have discussed this already and answered. Just do a search. When you find the thread that outlines how the Home Page color is changed, please post it here. By doing so, others who have similar goal as yours may benefit from this thread.

Except for the location of the above “Group by Section” in the JA News Manager, the procedure is basically the same for Joomla 1.0x-Teline II

    Dear cgc0202,

Thanks for your help. Yes, here is my home work.

    1. First i entered in to the admin
    2. go to module manager
    3. edit ja news module
    4. on the righ hand side we have a column called “Category (Section) ID”
    5. By default it was with some section id’s assigned to some colors which displays in the front end when a user click on a menu item that brings articles from a section

    6. First we need to write down the section numbers
    7. and need to put the section numbers there in the box
    8. if we wish to show only one color please use the following

    2:deepblue
    3:deepblue
    5:deepblue
    6:deepblue
    7:deepblue
    9:deepblue
    10:deepblue
    12:deepblue

The section id’s are my website section id’s, you may have another id’s as well.

But we need to put same color for all section id’s in the above format.

    Thats it. You made it.

    Home work completed successfully.

    Thanks to my tutor.

I wish this post may help some more people as well. I do search and post this thread where ever it is necessary.

    Regards

    Good work venkat,

But people will believe you only if you show proof. So, you need to provide the URL of your site, as well as Joomla version you used.

Now for the Quiz #1: To test your observation skills

First, you have to specify how many columns you placed in the JA News (default is 2)

Compare this arrangement in the back end with that of your front end:

    2:deepblue
    3:deepblue
    5:deepblue
    6:deepblue
    7:deepblue
    9:deepblue
    10:deepblue
    12:deepblue

    First question:
How does the order in the backend correlate with the front end?

    Second (related question):
If I ask you to make Section #6 at the top right of the JA Module, as viewed from the front end, how do you rearrange the backend to achieve this?

    Third Question (related question):
Provide the actual section name equivalent, like this

    3 => World

Suggest how you want to rearrange the Sections in the Front End
Based on this suggestion, how would you rearrange the Sections in the Module order when you edit the JA News in the back end?

This is a test of your ability to observe patterns and then use that information to rearrange the components. Note: Joomllart does not provide well-written tutorials on this, so you can learn it by trial and error.

The best is to have what I call a mirror sandbox Joomla-JA Teline II site, separate from your working site. This will be critical in the future, as you learn more. Everytime you wish to do anything, always try it first in your sandbox, before you apply them in your working site.

    Question (for Exta credits):

If you change you site to a 3-column (aesthetically not recommended if you have images going with each article)

Suggest your desired layout of the Sections in the Front End First.

From what you learned in Questions #s 1, 2, and 3 (it is best if you tried this in the Sandbox site for actual hands on learning), predict how you should arrange the sections in the back end (JA News module edit site).

To test your power of observation, it is best to make a prediction first then try it in the Sandbox. You may not get it immediately, but it will improve your power to make further deductions later on.

Hint: There are 8 Sections in the original, 3 columns would require 9, so that one of them will only have two. You really need to understand the sequence in #1 quite well, to get this correctly before you prove it by experimenting with your sandbox.
    *******************
More to quizzes and assignments to come. 🙂

The next quiz would be how to create new sections and categories, and how to include them in the magazine menu. I need to know what version of Joomla you use because the Joomla 1.5x is more tricky than Joomla 1.0x

I have seen many beginners (including myself) made a mess of this, again because there is no decent tutorial. Even experienced Joomla users messed this up. I had to learn it the hard way — trial and error.
