For the news and event module the content-mass-top position isn’t an option for me. It just doesn’t appear at all in the queue. Thoughts?

Hi Maplegro
Use http://yourdomain.com/?tp=1 to detect all module positions on your website then put the module to a position as you wanted.
I add News and Event module to content-mass-top position as example, pls check on your site.
