August 20, 2011 at 7:10 pm #407329K2 is not yet available for J1.6 so there is a customised blog layout instead. The menu item you were probably seeing in the demo was from the J1.5 version
Jt JA Showcase is only available to JAEC or Developer members as it is part of the JA Extension club.

August 20, 2011 at 7:17 pm #407331Then why it (“Ja Showcase”) is under the demo
http://templates.joomlart.com/ja_portfolio/index.php?option=com_jashowcase&view=jashowcase&Itemid=71This is something which made me buying this. I just need a site shows as in demo and that was the reason.
Also I have installed K2 from http://www.getk2.org and it installed successfully.
Download K2 v2.5 (RC) for Joomla! 1.5/1.6/1.7

The demo versions you see are configured to demonstrate many of the potential capabilities of the templates (not unlike when you are in a new car showroom and the cars on the showroom floor have all the bells-and-whistles) – some via the use of additional commercial components (be they JoomlArt Extension Club components or 3rd Party components (such as JomSocial)).@thewebmaster 261146 wrote:
Also I have installed K2 from http://www.getk2.org and it installed successfully.

Yes … K2 has finally released their release candidate (RC) for compatibility for J1.6/J1.7. Bare in mind that this is not yet a “stable” release – so there may still be bugs that need to be worked out. Nevertheless, this is good news for those who want to utilize the K2 component with a J1.6/J1.7 platform. It is also worthy to advise, however, that support for J1.6 has concluded and support for J1.7 will only be for approximately 6 months.
The next LTS (long term support) release form Joomla will be the next release – which (as I understand it) will be J2.5 (formerly planned/known as J1.8) sometime early 2012. Personally, I’m sticking with my J1.5 platform until that time – just makes more practical sense at this time. 😎

August 20, 2011 at 8:34 pm #407343If you look at the following link it shows which components are demonstrated in the demo which are given away included in the download and which are just demo’d as available to JAEC/Dev members – http://www.joomlart.com/joomla/templates/ja-portfolio. Hopefully that clears things up.
As for K2, yes a version is now available but it is still only a release candidate so IMHO is best not used on a live site. It will work with this template but there is no custon styling included in the J1.6/1.7 version of this template for K2. This was because K2 was not available at the time this template was released for J1.6. Instead some extra work was put in to create a custom blog layout with a similar look to the K2 blog.
