I am new to all of this.
I am trying to replace the default Ja Ores logo at the top of my page with a custom template logo.
I have done my research but i think my ignorance is making me miss a step. I am working with joomla and filezilla.
In the joomla backend i went into file manager and changed it to FTP mode (not sure if that is needed)
i then opened filezilla and uploaded my new logo by overwriting the file httpdocs/templates/ja_ores/images/logo.png
the upload and overwrite was successful
i then went into extentions>template manager>Ja Ores and changed the logo type from “text” to “image”
i hit apply and that didnt work.
I went back into the files manager and found the logo.png file. I viewed it and it is the custom logo i uploaded.
Then with logo.png highlighted in the file manager i clicked the upload button (thinking that’s what i missed) and checked the page again with no avail.
Obviously i am missing a very novice step and maybe i am overwriting the file in the wrong way.
I would also like to note that under the parameters section of the joomla template editor is says “The parameter file /templates/ja_ores/params.ini is unwritable!” maybe that is my problem?
any help would be appreciated. Thank you
January 25, 2011 at 10:13 pm #373779i should also note that the “params.ini” file in the templates/ja_ores directory permissions are 555.
I change them to 777 and go to template and it now says that the parameters are writable but as soon as i change from text to image it says they are unwritable again.
I go back to the params.ini file again and it automatically changes back to 555.
I am assuming this is the root of my problem making it impossible for me to change the logo.png file but when i go to http://bookobrothers.com/templates/ja_ores/images/logo.png the logo that i want appears.
when i initially set up the site i was told i needed to do something with phpmyadmin to overwrite any files but i am not sure what phpmyadmin is or how to access it.

January 25, 2011 at 10:36 pm #373784An easy mistake. You are using the blue varient of the theme so you need to edit the logo.png in the templates>ja_ores>images>blue>logo.png
There is a different version of the logo for different colour variations.

April 25, 2011 at 8:12 pm #388142Hi, to change the logo I followed these steps:
Went to the templates>ja_ores>images>blue>logo.png
Renamed the existing logo to logoold.png (then actually went ahead and deleted the logo)
Uploaded the new logo to templates>ja_ores>images>light-blue>logo.pngReloaded the page and the oldoriginal logo still shows up. I cleared the cache for all the browsers on my computer and even went to 2 different computers. The old logo is still showing up. Next, I went into the template manager and changed the logo to “text”. Entered the word “Test” and then reloaded the browsers. That worked fine. However, when I changed the setting back to “Image”, the oldoriginal logo still comes up. Not the logo that I changed it to.
I would appreciate any suggestions as to how to get my custom logo loaded.

April 25, 2011 at 9:29 pm #388159You have 2 different folders mentioned above, one in blue and one in light-blue?
If you would PM me a super admin logon, ftp details, details of where your new logo is and a link back to this thread I will take a look and make the edits for you.
