Hello, I joined today and have just downloaded the Polaris Template. I believe I am missing something. Is there is a series of steps that I am skipping. Is this not a dreamweaver editable template and if not is there some sort of Administrative Panel that you design and edit your site with. I have the user guide but it says nothting about how to download and admin Panel can anyone offer advice.

Are you at all familiar with Joomla? Do you know your way around in php or css?? Otherwise it might not be straightforward.
The template can be changed in dreamweaver ( I use this myself ) but it will not be operational like a live site, in other words, just code and code. Which means you would need to read user manuals and know the basic Joomla stuff to get it to do what you want.
I strongly advice you to read all user manuals and tips/tricks as adviced on this site if you aren’t familiar with Joomla. Might even try Barry Norths Joomla guides. They are excellent information ( compassdesigns.net )

Welcome to the forum, I also use DW8 for a lot of template changing and recently brought Barry’s Joomla guide and can say it’s well presented (PDF) and gives you a procedural breakdown on how Joomla approaches things from a CMS point of view.
I have links to some very good flash based tutotials on things like the admin panel installing components , modules and making your own modules etc, PM me for the link to both the manual and the tutorials
For the moment PM me for any minor help and explanations you need, I suggest buy the guide, read up on Joomla ( compare Joomla to a static dreamweaver type site etc) and we’ll go from there?
