I am using the Fagus template and am trying to add new Newsflash items. My issue is that I can’t add NEW items to the Newsflash rotation – however I can edit and change existing ones…
I have 3 items in my newsflash category. 2 items work just fine – but I tried adding a new one and it will not show. However the first 2 show just fine.
Here is the site: http://www.yourfbc.net
Is there anything extra that needs to be done to get the new items to show up in the rotation?
Thanks,
Jonathan

June 6, 2008 at 9:55 pm #252400There is nothing extra you should be doing as long as you are putting your new item in the same category it should be working.
You are just trying to add content items to your already set up section…how did you set the original three up?

June 6, 2008 at 9:59 pm #252401Why not try and set up a new section from scratch make some quick items and point you newsflash at that just to see if its still working
June 6, 2008 at 10:03 pm #252403I can’t remember if they were already there (as a demo content install) or manually added. However the new item is definately in the same category, nor can I see any difference in the parameters.
I just tried to “copy” one of the working items – and editited it. The copied item immediately showed up in the Newsflash. So it is JUST when I click “New” and add a new item that way.

June 6, 2008 at 10:09 pm #252405Can you make a few copies and do it that way?
I know you should not have to do it that way but if it worked for you before….personally I would try making a new section from scratch and point your Ja Newsflash at it…
this would make sure you don’t have an older version of the Newsflash which could have been left from an older Joomla. You could be pointing new items to an old Newsflash, which would explain why it does not seem to be working.June 6, 2008 at 10:10 pm #252407Ok – how about this for wierd….
I created a new category – “TestNewsflash” and then added 2 items to it. I then changed the category for the module and saved.
Now I refreshed and all I get is:
“Please select a category for JA Newsflash!”

June 6, 2008 at 10:15 pm #252408Try and clear your caches….
June 6, 2008 at 10:17 pm #252409I don’t have caching turned on with the site. I clicked on the Clean Cache – but there are no caches to delete.

June 6, 2008 at 10:28 pm #252413Seems as you managed to get the COPY OF EXISTING running I would repeat what you did there….you could add images in there if you wanted to spruce thinks up a little.
I made my text up in PSD and added the to the content area instead of text.
June 6, 2008 at 10:30 pm #252414I set it back – I even tried to create a new module (thinking that maybe it would only pick up news items before it was created – odd thing to think I know). Still the same.
I am at a loss to understand this. I guess I should be thankful I have some existing items I can just copy and populate them that way.
:((

June 6, 2008 at 10:33 pm #252416This maybe an issue with the 1.53 version of Joomla.
June 6, 2008 at 10:35 pm #252417It also did it in 1.5.2 as well. I do have legacy mode enabled (for JEvents). So maybe its a legacy thing?

June 7, 2008 at 1:46 am #252426Same thing was happening to me and I just changed the publish date to yesterday and it worked fine. Thing was, I did have the right time zone in my joomla installation. I’m at a loss to explain it, but I know it worked for me.
