July 26, 2012 at 3:59 pm #179429hello,
i am trying to located the”user guides” marked “new” under forums tab.
i subscribed to the club hoping to have access to such info since the wiki documents didnt really give me answers….. but all i find are tips on how to handle some details but not for someone trying to get a handle on the template.
specifically, i am looking for something that will help me understand how elastica is structured.
currently, i am having trouble setting my site up to look like your demo page (with the color modules, tags, read more, tabs, etc)…when i downloaded / installed and logged in, most of those options disappeared and my page looks quite unsatisfactory.could someone please guide me find the right resources? really really appreciate it, thanks

July 27, 2012 at 4:48 am #462368Hi anjalivasan,
If possible you can download a qiuckstart of Ja elastica install it into your system to play with it and knowing how it’s structured, Or I think you can also follow this module configuration guide http://wiki.joomlart.com/wiki/JA_Elastica/Module_Configuration

July 28, 2012 at 8:49 am #462453hi mr.holmes,
i did the quickstart. the page chowed up as expected.
then, i figured i would play with the various modules on the page by substituting content (to begin with).
but when i logged in as a user / admin (to be able to edit), i landed up with a view of articles only.
see http://www.chochoma.com.
all the blue, red, black, hot, new, read more….went away.
hmmm.
what dod i do wrong?
should i re-install the template and do things differently?anjalivasan Friendanjalivasan

July 28, 2012 at 5:20 pm #462463aha!
i figured out what was wrong.
for some reason, the modules didnt get uploaded. only the articles showed up.
redid quickstart, and i have a replica of the demo site.so, now i am able to select content and understand the relationship between module assignments, column changing, suffixes and articles.
three questions for now :
1. i installed into the root directory of my website (As per tom’s step by step guide. there was no “public” directory, just plain old root). however, the demo seems to be working from this url :
http://www.chochoma.com/quickstart/jatc_elastica_j25/
(i thought it would be http://www.chochoma.com/ since i installed under toot directory).i suppose i could do a url re-direct, but maybe there’s a better way to simply get the template to work under the url, as opposed to the sub-path of quickstart/jatc_elastica_j25/.
2. i made changes to the green module. viewing access is set to public.
however, i am able to view (front-end) only when i am registered as a user. which i did just to see how that works.
if i access as public (which is what i would like!!!).. i only see the demo content.3. same problem with articles. unless i log in as the user or admin, i cant see the changes.
what am i doing wrong?this is fun… learning.
thanks for all your help folks!Sherlock FriendSherlock

You probably have installed the quickstart under the root/quickstart/jatc_elastica_j25 folder, please check it again.

July 31, 2012 at 8:04 am #462684yup. i moved all the file/folders from under the subfolder to the root and it now works like i intended minus a redirect.
is there a lag time between changes made at backend and those changes showing up to a public user?
i ask only because i didnt clear out my cache, and still, suddenly, after about a half hour (of changes), the thing worked.right now, trying to change logo…. SO not happening 🙂
but i am awfully determined to master this. thanks for your help.1 user says Thank You to anjalivasan for this useful post
