I saw that Community Builder has a subscription box. Where do subscriptions go to? Does this work with a newsletter creator like ccNews?

Hi

The SUBSCRIBE box is only for demo

you can customize it with a newsletter creator as you prefer

not sure exactly where this goes in the demo – in your site though, you can set up whatever forms you’d like, sending people to whatever service you’d like, whether it be an internal Joomla! component, or an external marketing service like mailchimp or infusionsoft.
