June 1, 2009 at 4:47 am #141581Hi everyone,
I want to make a box so people can sign up for an e-mail list. How can I do that, and which modules do I need? I also need one that I can change the language of the buttons etc since my page is in Norwegian.
Any ideas?
Thanks! 🙂

June 1, 2009 at 4:58 am #306368You will need a newsletter component/module for that on the JED. There are many different ones but I use CCNewsletter.

June 1, 2009 at 5:00 am #306369Jay’s correct, there are loads of them available!
I use Communicator. It’s easy to install and configure with an simple ‘sign up to receive our newsletter’ front end module.

June 4, 2009 at 12:00 am #306792Hi guys,
Thanks for the help. I chose Communicator. I just find the text that appears after you click “subscrice” to be a bit strange. It says that it is activated, and that is fine. But then there is also a cross and a link that says “Sign up”. But strange, since the user have allready signed in. This is in Ja Rutile by the way.
Interesting to see if you guys have any ideas on how to fix this.
Thanks!

June 4, 2009 at 5:52 am #306838Hi tversover
I never had this problem because I never used the module supplied with Communicator. I created a custom module which takes people to the standard Joomla ‘registration’ page instead.
It may be worth putting a post on the Communicator forum and asking the developers which file to edit to change the wording:

June 23, 2009 at 4:54 pm #308838Hey folks,
I choose the Communicator, but it seems to make my site crash in Internet Explorer 7.0 and older. The page won’t show at all, and I get the message (window) that says that the opertation is aborted. This is so strange! I tried to delete the communicator, and then it works fine.
Do you guys have any problems with this? I really like the communicator, but maybe I need to get another extension….

June 24, 2009 at 6:53 am #308909Hi tversover
I’m using Communicator with no problems at all. Perhaps this is related to the front-end ‘sign up’ module?
I didn’t actually use that module, I created a custom HTML module which actually links direct to a contact page instead … which works fine for me.
Try disable the ‘signup’ module and see if everything works OK. If it does, then creat a new mod_custom module which basically links to a separate contact form.

August 3, 2009 at 7:55 pm #313032I’m using Rutile. I added communicator and it works well and was easy to set up. However, after someone signs up on the main frontage the following appears in the in center of the page towards the top.

Subject Start Publishing HitsPowered by Communicator 2.0.2
It’s kind of odd. Anyway to get rid of this?
Here’s the source code.
