I have just upgraded my site to Joomla 2.5, and upgraded Teline IV template and JAT3 as well.

My news pro is not displaying correctly. There is a lot of white space after each section of the news.

It is the min-height of 615px in this line – do you know how to change that?

    <div class=”ja-articles active clearfix” id=”ja-articles-80-78″>
    <div class=”ja-box column ja-zintheme ” style=”clear: both; min-height: 615px;”>

This only happens when I select “all” on the NewsPro bar. If I select one of the categories on the front page, it appears to fix itself.

any idea what could be going on?

Can you provide a URL so we can get a better idea of what is happening?

    Thank you,
    John

    please go to

http://hamlethubs.com/ – login using un demo, pw demo
    then go to http://hamlethubs.com/ridgefield

you can see if you click on “all” for the newspro category – it looks odd

However, if you click on one of the subcategories – it looks normal

It has something to do with the settings for the categories, I believe, but not sure what setting it could be that does not have the “all” tab look at all the subcategories.

I was going to try and reinstall the template.

    thanks for your help.

    Ken,

Without a backin login this is just a guess…but it appears as though you are suffering some MS Crud from cutting and pasting from a MS Word document. For instance…
Support The Girls Lax Team- It’s Their Only Fundraiser of The Year![/h]This copy is obviously cut and pasted and brought a bunch of non-Joomla, non-TelineIV code with it. And that can EASILY bring down a site or screw of the formatting. In fact that min-width 615 leads me to believe that some of the content was copied and pasted from an email that had been formatted for viewing on mobile devices.

So clean up the code in the articles – easiest way would be to copy it to Notepad or other TEXT editor and then copy and paste it back into Joomla and use the WYSIWYG’s tools to format it correctly.

There are times you can shortcut Joomla, but copy and pasting from Word, Outlook, etc. is not one of them. 🙂

Let me know if you need further.
    John.

I can give you backend access, I just don’t want to put it out there for public view.

If it is a problem with the articles, why does it appear fine when you click on on eof the sub categories?

I believe it has something to do with the fact that the ALL is not picking up the articles in the subcategories, and when there are no, or only one article to display, somehow that is throwing it off. I don’t know what setting I could have hit that makes the ALL not read the subcategories. Obviously it knows they are there, because they appear in the subcategory tabs.

As I said without backend access…it is just a guess.
You can PM me if you would like.

WOW! What a ton of work you have done on this site!
And this just started happening? Or has there always been this problem?

It appears you have a conflict with another module…as the page initially loads correctly and later blows out.
I’m having another of our moderators look at this as well.

    Thanks!

This started after I upgraded to 2.5. This is not the “real” site but a backup. I was doing a test of it here.

Still odd that it only happens with the “all” tab. I wonder what module it loads, that would only interfere with that one tab?

I just went in to change the setting for “enable joomla content plugins” based on a hunch – but it did not have an effect.

I also noticed the subcategories are no longer there – I am assuming you are working on it so I will leave it alone.

Again…there is content that is causing an override. I’m suspecting it is in one of the modules to the right…and one that is on ALL pages.

I would try turning those off one by one and see if the problem doesn’t go away.
There is nothing wrong with the template as the code is there…it is just being overridden somewhere…and you have SO MUCH content it will be similar to a needle in a haystack unless you can remember what you were working on when you first noticed it.

TelineIV for all its power is not very forgiving. 🙂 I’m also seeing mootool errors popping up in the Administrator area while changing module properties…so that is a possibility as well. But my bet is still with internal content that is causing the override.

Also, if you go into JAEM – you will see a ton of error codes regarding a couple non-Joomlart components. Perhaps that may ring a bell as to what was not completely cleaned out.

I’ve pushed this up to others here to see if they can decipher what’s going on too.

Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

    Where is “JAEM”?

There is no single article that would be in each of those categories – meaning there are five categories, (Live, Entertainment, etc), and the “all” is the articles underneath each of those categories. Since it is happening with all 5, and it is not happening with any of the sub tabs within those five, I think it has to be something else on the page.

I was thinking of reinstalling the template, or at least that module. I am also getting strange things happening when I go to adjust that module.

JAEM = JA Extension Manager – GOTO: COMPONENTS > JA-EXT-MANAGER – the errors will be immediately apparent.

And you are missing my point. Forget the single article. That was just a guess prior to being able to see your site. We’re talking a module (FACEBOOK, TWITTER, GAS PRICES, etc…) that’s causing the blow out. When you reset your browser, you will notice that everything in NEWS PRO loads correctly…but as the page finishes loading…THAT’S when the blow out occurs. So there is some coding somewhere that is causing the override. And if we can figure out which one, then we can work on it to correct the issue.

Ok – I have seen those errors. Not sure what to do about them – could that have to do with the PHP temp file not being set?

I believe I understand your point now. Just for my edification though – I understand the page loads correctly, and then goes batty. However, when you click on a subcategory, like “education” under Life, it fixes itself. Then you click on “all” again, and it goes back to the odd look. What is so different about the “all” tab, and the way it displays the articles? What HTML is it using that the sub tabs are not using?

    Ken,

Again…there is something in a 3rd party module on the right hand side that is overriding the ALL in the NewsPro. Find that module, and you’ll find your answer as to what code is being overridden.

I’m still looking…and will eat my hat if that is not the problem. 😛

    FOUND IT!

It’s your weather module. Turn it off…life returns.
Thank God. I really love my hat.

you dah man – thanks – owe you one – and that is my fault – I was playing with it to change the formatting. Did not have any effect until now for some reason…
