But I’d like to see some corporate or business style sites rather than more of these ‘club-ish’ image heavy styles. Clubish is the wrong word…. but you know what I mean.
I’d really love to see something different and new that Joomlart or the other clubs have not done before. And no… I’ve no idea what.</blockquote>
I know what you mean… clubish is the wrong word but they are heavy and dark. Remind me a lot of gaming. Even the new Cooper would be good for gaming site. Personal blogs and gaming sites are big business though. Corporate sites aren’t as popular for template clubs I don’t think. Maybe that is why they seem to be leaning the other way.
Sanidine, Uvite, Quartz, Zinc, and Cooper all have a lot of good elements, but dark and “clubish”, that I would like to see combined into a Teline type site. Teline II has a lot of good qualities, but is missing a lot too.

February 15, 2009 at 10:09 pm #291637They have been similar but this cooper one is fantastic. There is some great subtle styling on the modules for instance.
I know what you mean though, a break from the standard 2 columb, menu at the top type layout would be great.

For me, this is what has separated Joomlart from other clubs and in my opinion, has always made them better.
Most other clubs rely heavily on glossy javascript and ‘cool’ gimmicks to sell their templates.
Joomlart has always made clean and simple, yet professional, looking sites. By simple I mean keeping the gimmicks to a minimum.
Joomlart templates are very easy to customise (not too many images, simple styling) which makes them appealing to developers who need a quick conversion to show clients.
I bet the ratio of Developer members to ‘personal site’ members is much higher on Joomlart than other clubs because of this.
I hope Joomlart are going to keep this tradition and not go down the path to only releasing glossy, cram in as much as you can, gaming or club style sites.

You are correct. I took nearly 2 weeks to decide which club to join. I was between this one and Rocket something… can’t remember the name right this minute. The other club had really over the top templates with an amazing amount of module positions etc, but the templates were too over the top. I couldn’t see how I could really use them for anything without major modifications. I chose this club because the templates were just cleaner and have more potential to be used on many different kinds of sites.
For me the big plus would be more color choices… just plain colors, not jeans, summer, winter, things like that, just plain color that is easy to apply to different menus. Right now, seems color choices are only available to the News module, but not other menus. I don’t think it’s important for the visitor to the site to be able to change layout, color, etc., but more important for the web developer to be able to get exactly the look they want for the different areas of the site.

February 15, 2009 at 11:51 pm #291650I had been using the fantastic JA_Fagus template for a long time but when I saw the Zinc template I just had to rejoin.
Rockettheme are very ott IMO. Yootheme have loads of module positions but they just seem to reuse the same old js bits and never style them too well. Take a look at the yoodrawer for instance. It just gets slapped in each template without changing the images for it.
JA really take care with each template. While there are sometimes little bugs the look is always spot on.
It would be nice if the designs had a couple of different logo options out of the box. Sometimes a small logo to the left of a menu doesn’t work so maybe having a second full width logo position too.

I hope not! It’s not that crash hot a template and we need new templates not a few coloured sections

February 17, 2009 at 3:47 pm #292074There have been an equal trend in the votes, however, the result is favorable to extra business themes for JA Cooper, we will release some more extra business themes for JA Cooper
It will be called JA Cooper Business Version where color and feel will be more business so you can use the template for company sites. Although only the dard grey themes is revealed, I believe we will not let you down with other style of the business edition….

Sounds like your mind was made up long before the poll 🙂
Tell me how 5 colour changes to an existing template qualifies as a new template design?joev Friendjoev

February 17, 2009 at 7:23 pm #292164As much as I like new styles and themes, my bigger concern is general support for the templates. I’m seeing allot of unanswered questions and the ones that are answered, are mostly from members. As a long time member of RocketTheme, I must admit that their support is top-notch. Even if the answer is a custom solution, they will at least point you in the right direction. I’m hoping the support aspect get’s better because a template is only as good as the support team behind it.

Hi joev,
Please note that we do provide ticket/email support for urgent/critical issues. The ticket system help us to guarantee the timing of response time. Also, there are some users are JA staff member. Because they are not a full time working on the forums, they are not promoted to Admin/Mod because their regular performance on forums are not scheduled.PS: Please keep on to the topic.

February 17, 2009 at 7:43 pm #292170Personally and it’s just my humble opinion, I think that JA Cooper could use a little more polish. It is now a stable release but still has a few issues… nothing major, just a few minor things. With the release of more color choices that are more for business, it also gives them a chance to finish polishing the Cooper template itself. It also gives those who are working on business related sites a chance to use this template to its fullest without the hassle of long hours changing the colors and graphics to suit their needs.
I would rather have more choices on a polished template than have them set this aside now and do a rush job on a new template that may or may not be as good or better. From what I have seen, the last template that was really good “out of the box” for business was Vauxite. It’s time for something a little better for general business use and I think that Cooper is the logical direction to go given the time constraints that have already been mentioned. JMHO.
