This has worked for me in the past and now doesn’t, not sure what has changed. Everything works except that a confirmation email is not sent. The user appears in the back-end after he registers and he can be enabled in the backend manually.
assistance appreciated.

July 14, 2008 at 11:33 am #259634the only thing I can think of is something to do with the smtp configuration for your host.
If the emails are being triggered then they must leave the host before they are received by the user.
if the email isn’t being received but the email is being triggered then it definitely points to the smtp config. I don’t know the full answer yet but I’ll hope to see if I can figure it out for you.

July 15, 2008 at 5:58 am #259810You should use SMTP for your mail function, because if you PHP mail, maybe your active mail will be spam, you can read http://docs.joomla.org/Screen.config.15#Mail_Settings to consult

July 16, 2008 at 1:39 pm #260193thanks for the help… I have setup using sendmail with all the SMTP feilds maintained and it appears to be working fine. I don’t understand the difference between sendmail and SMTP server except that using “SMTP Server” gave an error.
Hopefull all good now 🙂
