    Hi

I tried to make my new website SEO friendly by changing the settings in Global Config, but this didn’t work.

I then checked my server to rename the htaccess.txt file and noticed that this file was not packaged with Mesolite2.

What can I do to make the site SEO friendly please? How do I create an htaccess file?

    Thanks

    Dear munders,

the htaccess.txt file must have accompanied the quickstart package. However, if you cannot find it, you can take it from the latest Joomla 1.5.15 package and place it in your joomla root and rename it to .htaccess. At times in some of the hosting spaces, the .htaccess may not be seen (not sure why), it happened to me many times that i renamed the file and it vanished. Although i could see the file in the cpanel file manager.

Since, it is mesolite, with Virtuemart, in my case Virtuemart did not go well with the Joomla native SEO activation. So you may want to try any other 3rd party sef solution.

    Regards,

    Dear munders,

Let me know about the Virtuemart and Joomla native SEO. Not sure, if things have changed in the latest VM version, on my site the 1.1.3 version of VM gave hell lot of problems during checkouts, so i turned it off and i dont feel like using 3rd party SEO as the task to then retain the same urls, in times of migration can be difficult one.
