Is the JA Nex template really fully compatible with K2?

In order to realize an initial test with K2 ITEMS I unpublished all Joomla ARTICLES. Then I changed menus and module configurations to work with K2.

The problem is that there seems to be no option for K2 content in the sidenews module and so the content disappears.

    Hi Joan Carles,

There is no hope! When a Joomlart template uses the JA sidenews module – in my opinion – it is not usable with K2. Don’t waste your time as I did. So before investing time testing and modifying quickstart files check the modules which come with the template.

    See also the following thread:

    Answers: ZERO! No hope …

None of my K2 issues were solved by JA…I gave up and went elsewhere…

    The thread has been replied.

@dave_logic i would suggest you read the above explanation.

We can not support all the 3rd party extensions for our templates, its not possible to please everyone, there are users asking for zoo support for the templates or extensions… we can only do what our resources allow us.

We are Joomla template / extension makers, we provide limited support for K2 or any other 3rd party extensions. We are not K2 template makers.

we support k2 in all our templates for the very simple reason that it is very stable and doesnot break a single template with its version releases. The K2 devs make sure that they do not change the html markups.

We will drop k2 the very moment it starts behaving like JomSocial updates….

Hi @drarvindc, in my case, I think is not a K2 problem. It seems that the problem is comming from JA Sidenews (included in JA Puresite template).

As you can see in the thread opened in JA Puresite section, the JA Sidenews configuration form of your Puresite Demo Platform is quite different that mine. In your demo platform I can choose K2 or Joomla content in the JA Sidenews module configuration, but in my installation is limmited to Joomla.

    Thank you for your reply

My comments regarding K2 were not just referencing this small issue but a whole list of issues effecting K2 display by modules that WERE advertised as being K2 compatible by JA. None of these were fixed and I was told that devs would get back to me who never did. I even setup a Demo builder site for you guys to see these issues. I wasted a good month trying to get JA NEX working to no avail and moved my project to another template club.

JA_NEX was (and still is) a news template that displays news articles from either com_content or com_k2 therefore one would expect the features on the front page to work for both. I’m not sure why someone would want to use a mixture of both contents and out of experience with the top three template clubs JA, RT and Gavick it is only yourselves that adopt this methology..

Anyway, that’s all in the past and I have wanted to draw a big line under my bad start with JA…..I’m now playing with JA_Wall in a different zone and try only to pass on subjective feedback and don’t want to upset anyone..

    HI Joan,

Thanks for clarifying, i have replied to your other thread and also provided the updated version zip for your usage. I shall get it checked and exported on monday. The same would be updated in the puresite quickstart and download folder.

    http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/cant-configure-k2-content-on-ja-sidenews/#post-455421

Please feel free to bring to my notice, if there are similar issues. I shall get them sorted out asap.

@teutobahiano you can also try to use the sidenews module provided in the above thread on your JA Nex to see if it helps you out.

    Regards

    Arvind

There is updated file in new template ja_mendozite with K2 support, uninstall the old one and install the new module and you have it 🙂

I am experiencing a similar problem with K2 Content module in Mendozite for J3.1 The module only shows advanced options and there is no option to change any basic settings. So if the content changes it disappears for the list because I am unable to select a different category. Please can someone advised where I can find an updated version of the K2 Content module. I have searched but found nothing.

From what you mentioned above, I guess XML of K2 component on your site was missed, you can try to download version 2.6.7 and install it again.

Let me know if it helps
