I’ve recently set up a news site using the latest JA Teline II template. The problem I have is that the JA News module doesn’t provide any links like a read more button or a hyperlink title to the truncated articles unless I have inserted a ‘read more’ break in the article.

Upgrade to the latest versions, i hope that will do it. if not post here again.

I dunno what to comment on Menalto’s solution.

Anyway, before you install anything you can do this.

Go to Module Manager.
look for your ja news module.
edit it
go to parameters
you will see there that there is an item for showing the read more button. Choose SHOW
then you can limit the number of characters as intro for the articles
