    Hi
I have downloaded purity 2.5 – everything went well – I could change things in the profile and it showed on the frontpage.
My problem was that there were no themes avaible – so I was looking through your pages and found the “JA T3 System plugin for Joomla 2.5” and downloaded and installed it. It thought maybe this was missing.
After the installation – everything that have had changed so far like logo and Menu – jupped back and I could only see the joomla logo and the top menu was gone.
As I am not a real pro in this homepage creating business – and althoug I deactiveated the plugin – nothing was like before. Because as I deactivated the plugin the message on the frontpage was “Missing jat3 framework plugin”

So I decided to start from scratch again – cleared joomla from my server – uploaded it again…..(lost a lot of work …..) uploaded purity again – went to preview on the frontpage…..and guess what it said….”Missing jat3 framework plugin”……so I had to reupload this plugin again…..although I did not have it until today and everything went well.

So my questions to you are:
    1. what did I do by uploading/installing the JAT3 System plugin? Why can I change the profile, but it won’t show on the frontpage and as soon as I closed the template jump back to what it looked before?
    2. Why are there no themes avaiable and where would I get it from?
    3. The Profile setting looks different than before I uploaded the JAT3 System plugin – new is f.e. “Google Font API Settings” – which have edit sign but cannot be edited.

Please not that I had purity on my homepage before – using joomla 1.5 – with that I was capable to change everything without CSS/HTML knowledge. (see my hp http://www.homoeopathie4u.ch). Because I cannot change from 1.5 to 1.7 as I am fearing to loose my hp that works perfectly. I now try to redo my hp with joomla 1.7 from scratch. The problem is that I have problems with the new purity..as described. Is it necessary to have this CSS/HTML knowledge or do you think I can manage without. I would really like to change the colors again…..and that is why I was looking for the themes today, with the sorry result I have just described.
I dont want to start uploading my files again etc. until I am not capable to work with purity.

Hope you understand my problems and can help me.
    thks

    Grüezi,

I don’t work for Joomlart and I’m not a support member — just a user like you.

To save you losing work in the future can I suggest that you instal a product called Akeeba so that you can do backups of your work.

I personally have never heard of themes for Purity II. Other templates from Joomlart have them but in my test Purity II there are none so any changes to the CSS will need to be manual.

You don’t have to have lots of knowledge of css – I don’t! There are also lots of people on here who can help you. As long as you can work with filezilla and notepad+ (windows) or yummy and textwrangler (osx) for changing and uploading files you’ll be fine. Just keep regular backups.

    Hope that helps you.

    Gruezi back…..:)
    and thank you swissa
What I really would like to do is change the header….at least the colors (I could do that on my current hp) so could you tell me how to do that? I have filezilla and as I said have done the other hp all by myself. So if I get a s l o w explanation it should work.
    thks

    😀

Do you also have firebug or chrome? You can use this to find out where all the elements on the page are.

If you want to change the header on my version of Purity II it is all located at about line 1214 in /templates/ja_purity_ii/css/template.css

The images are in /templates/ja_purity_ii/images so you can either change the names of your images or the names in the css.

Take copies of the files so that you can always restore them!!

Hope that gets you started! 🙂

Now here comes the difficult part. What is firebug and by chrome do you mean google chrome?:-[ So f.e. I install google chrome go on my hp as administrator I see where all the elements are?

If I change the names of the images – then I suppos there must be a choice or do I have to create my own? Because for this I am not capable.
By themes I ment this http://www.joomlart.com/forums/downloads.php?do=cat&id=322, and thought they were for purity.

THks for helping me….I think I just have to go step by step and try to get results.

    Sali,

Step by step is the best way to learn!

Firstly your are looking at themes for Drupal and not Joomla. Two different CMS systems. Sorry!

From your own pc, your normal Chrome or Firefox browser, if you visit a website and click on the right mouse and then click on “inspect element”, you get to see the code behind the page. So you can see quickly where to change a text colour for example.

If you right click on images it will show you the location and name of the image so that either you can make yours the same name, upload it to the same location with your ftp and over-write the current one or you can call your image your own name and change the line of code in the file to match your name.

Try it and you’ll see. You can change the code in your browser (it doesn’t make any changes to the real website). You can try this on any site not just yours as it is all done locally in your browser. It allows you to test changes before you edit any files on your site.

    Grüsse
