March 18, 2011 at 1:14 pm #382080It has been announced that in future the quickstart packages will only come with placeholder images. This is due to the very high cost of licencing high quality images to thousands of users who will only replace them with their own anyway.
Surely you do not want your website filled with the demo images?

March 18, 2011 at 7:23 pm #382138Hi guys,
The announcement would be coming soon for this change, we could not hold the JA Methys release for the announcement, so we released JA Methys with blank placeholders.
The announcement would be made complusory thread for everyone and it has more items to announce (mostly good news). Please wait for it.
Regards
Arvind

March 18, 2011 at 9:26 pm #382155Does it mean the images will use the blank images to show up?
It’s a pity to see all blank images at quickstart package in the future.Or JA can deal with the images providers by using widely licenses at low cost one time?

March 18, 2011 at 9:44 pm #382158Best await the forthcoming announcement.
Nobody would seriously use the images included in the quickstarts so I cannot see it as being a problem myself.

March 19, 2011 at 9:00 pm #382296NO WAY! Anyone has the interest to see a phototype or demo with blank image position, and that just give you an “idea” where the images “should be” placed? If there is really no images on the position, then the customers needs more imagine in how to design/deploy the template to fit for their own need~ >:(

March 19, 2011 at 9:04 pm #382297The images will still be there in the demo’s but in the quickstarts there will be placeholder images as you now see in Methys. It would only take you a few miniutes to replace those placeholder images with pictured of your own. JA are not the only club doing this.

March 20, 2011 at 1:15 am #382307Ya.I don’t against this issue.just ask a question before JA releases this change.
Maybe JA can make investigation before release this change.By the way, some providers still keep images at their quickstart packages. They don’t worry about customers will use their images or not.
There is no wrong or right,it’s a choice of every template provider.

March 20, 2011 at 8:25 am #382321Maybe ceo of Joomlart can make more benefit of customers instead of costing down to those who join the theme club.
I join other template club too. They provide the real images at quickstart packages not the placeholder images. The reason of customers will use those images or not is not the JA team should to consider.I think JA should to make more good support and more benefit to those who join the club.
Kindly suggestion,
I think it’s a good way to define the images usage license of quickstart packages rather than to use placeholder images to replace those real images.Phill ModeratorPhill

March 20, 2011 at 9:33 am #382325Every month high quality images have to be purchased. A license has to be granted not only for the display of those images on the website here but also a distribution license and it is that distribution license that is expensive for JA to maintain. While you may feel this is downgrading what you are getting it is very rare for any user to use those sample images in their live sites. In fact I bet you cannot find any completed sites where the JA sample images are required. I myself think it will speed up my workflow.
Yes, it will save JA some costs but I have been informed that those savings are going to be used to hire more support staff and in turn improve the support all the JA customers are getting.

March 20, 2011 at 11:00 am #382330I agree with the saving cost can hire more support staff to do more good members support service and JA techniques development surely.Though,it’s indeed downgrading quickstart packages..

May 30, 2011 at 2:22 am #393469Yet, all of the previous templates, including the content and IMAGE heavy Teline IV all still have their images in-tact with the quickstart package. For myself – though eventually the images are replaced – it helps a great deal with the visualization process as I develop a project.
I’m usually a staunch supporter of JoomlART – but considering all the money JoomlART brings in, this is a pretty selfish move.

That is exactly what has been done, there are now a lot more support staff.
Tom,
Selfish? That is a bit harsh. Licencing costs have spiralled for stock images that add little to the package you get. They are stock images and not something anyone would use in a live site surely?
