    Hi again,

    Sorry for so many posts, but I can’t seem to find any answers in the Forum.

    I seem to have a problem with available content positions.

    I have the positions seen in the image plus user8 and user9, but I don’t seem to have “Slideshow” or “Content”. Are these normal positions I’m missing or something assigned by a component?

    Best,
    Micah

    I have run into this issue when I have installed a new template into a previously existing Joomla installation. You make the new template into the default, but the module manager doesn’t recognize the new template’s positions.

    I have found the work around to be as follows. I’ll use a “custom html” module as an example, but so far, this has worked for me for all types of modules….

    1. Click on the “New” button at the top right to create a new module.
    2. Select “Custom HTML” from the list.
    3. NOW the new template’s positions will be visible in the position pull down menu. Select the position you want.
    4. Complete module edits and save.
    5. The new template position will now be available along with the old positions in the module manager’s template position selector pull down menu.
    6. As long as modules exist in the module manager that continue to be placed in positions belonging to the old template, those positions will be available in the template position pull down.
    7. After you have recreated all the modules in the new template’s positions, delete the old modules from the module manager. That should get rid of those positions in the module manager’s template position pull down.

    I hope that helps.

    You shouldn’t have to do this to get to where you want to go, but I’ve found this is true across several different template clubs, so this isn’t a Joomlart issue, it is a Joomla! issue.

    Hi whamprod,

    Thanks for the reply, unfortunately it didn’t work.

    Should I just reinstall the template? This would be a pain, but if it’s necessary…

    Where would I check in the code to see if these positions are included?

    Many thanks,
    Micah

    I’m not sure how to fix it, bit you could try looking in the template root directory. There should be a file there called templateDetails.xml. That file should show the template positions.

    So in templates/ja_rave/templateDetails.xml, look for the following

    <?xml version=”1.0″ encoding=”utf-8″?>
    <install version=”1.5″ type=”template”>
    <name>JA_Rave</name>
    <version>1.0.2</version>

    Hi wolfemann,

    Just type “Slideshow” or “Content” into “Position” textbox. Before that, please check if these positions are supported by template, in some template, “Slideshow” might be “sl1_l”, “sl1_r”…

    Thanks!

    That worked.

    Best,
