Please pay a visit to and check out my retirement hobby site at Northern California Views http://www.oflanagans.net/NorthCalViews/ .

The site is put together with the following major components:

    + Joomla 1.0.12
+ Simple Machines Forum (SMF) 1.1.2
+ The Joomla-SMF bridge available from the fine folks at Joomlahacks.com.
    + Various Community Builder components.

I’m currently using a very nice Ja Pollux template available from Joomlart.com. Since this is a hobby and not a commercial site (in other words, one where I am trying to make money), however, the choice of template being used may change from time to time.

Experienced developers will notice I’m not currently using any form of SEF. It’s not because I’m not aware of the benefits that could be derived from the use of SEF. It’s just that, in my experience, every time I try to employ SEF one of my other major components breaks down.

In fact, to my mind trying to keep the site up and running on its four “legs” is much like trying to keep an old card table stable while demons continually remove and replace individual legs in the name of upgrading them.

Any comments or suggestions for improving the site are welcome.
