October 1, 2013 at 12:29 pm #507693There are many problems in styling e-commerce solutions to every template. The minor ones are that there are so many good e-commerce extensions around which do you choose? People will never be happy with whichever one JA were to choose. My personal favourite is Hikashop simply because I know it and because it comes with so many payment options free out of the box. VM is good but IMHO lacks support and many payment options come from third party providers. Joomshopping support is a little hard mainly because the team are German, great if that is your language but a little strained when it comes to technical issues for the English speaker. The main problem however is the time it takes to implement. If the developers are working had on e-commerce then that is less time for innovation in other areas. JA have shown some wonderful templates over the years and have always been at the forefront of Joomla template development. Many companies follow the lead JA set and in my mind I would rather see JA continue to push the boundaries of template development rather than waste time on so many boltons that not only require development at the time of release but need constant maintenance throughout the life of the product.

Thank.

October 1, 2013 at 10:17 pm #507731E-commerce issue: Most end users would like to sell some products through their website, i.e. photographer to sell photos, writersto sell some e-books, designers to sell some artwork etc. You decide which one is easier for you, like the Hikashop, VM, Joomshopping etc. If an e-commerce template is needed, a special one can be used. Thanks

While some clubs always try and release on the first of each month JA do not, they simply promise to release 1 template per month. This means templates are more likely to be mature. Hope you understand.

Not yet . . . But there are some nifty preview pics in this thread to view and think about what you might do with the template once it is released and you get your hands on it. 😎gringo211985 Friendgringo211985

I totally agree with you and to have “no e-com styling because it takes too long” in my opinion is a lame excuse, they get a whole month to build a template and from what I understand there is more than one person working on a template, so why can they not even get the most simple of styling for VM like changed buttons and a simple border?
I’m not saying to do a whole template around VM, Hikashop etc I’m saying they really should have basic styling for buttons etc.
TBH there are a lot more options now for people like me than there were 12 months ago, template toaster, templates CK and things like this allow you to style templates and VM without needing to know any CSS.
I still think that JA need to work on an extension of ThemeMagic to allow more customization, so people can start with T3 blank and build themselves without having to edit CSS etc. We should be able to style the whole template through ThemeMagic from backgrounds, to text size, to all H headings to borders around individual elements. I know it is possible as there are currently extensions out there that will do all this.
I just hope JA take my comments on board, or at least consider them.

October 5, 2013 at 3:22 pm #508091A lot of template designers they do it now… especially with wordpress and woocommerce. What a pitty, not to use a good template bcs we need some sort of a simple ecommerce option and not a special ecommerce template. Hopefully you will listen to your members and you will add this option to the new template here, otherwise it is a waste of money and time for us…

“a waste of money and time . . .” …. really?
So what you’re saying is that unless every/all templates include specific design/programming for ecommerce functions, then the template is a waste of “money and time” for all JA Members?
We can respectfully agree to disagree on this issue.
Not every website is meant to be an ecommerce site, or themes or purposed. Furthermore, “ecommerce” is a function that varies widely in terms of how such is utilized and implemented within a website’s structure – if so desired. Ecommerce is not confined to shopping cart components/applications (such as VirtueMart, JoomShopping, etc.). Ecommerce can involve affiliate marketing, advertising sales/placement, call to action referrals, etc – many of which can be implemented and effectuated sans specific programming/design for any particular shopping cart component/application.
Also, should any particular site user/administrator choose to want to include shopping-cart based ecommerce functionality into his/her website functionality, there is absolutely nothing stopping one from doing so. It seems to me that most of the Joomla compatible shopping cart components – once installed – conform fairly well within most layouts. However, if not to one’s particular liking, there are literally dozens of third-party developers who offer pre-designed themes and additional modules/features for the various cart components . . . most of which can be found within the JOOMLA EXTENSION DIRECTORY

October 5, 2013 at 11:01 pm #508106No. I am talking for a standardised shopping cart option in order to face today’s demands, like VM, Joomshopping etc. It will be great if you consider to do it.
