    Hi Mate
    Go to your administrator panel, from the SITE menu select global configuration (or click on global configuration icon in control panel)
    Next from the global configuration panel click on word SERVER; Then in Mail Settings panel put in your email address you want the mail to go to, The name of the site or business it came from (the from field) Leave the mail settings as PHP Mail and you normally don’t have to enter and info for STMP.

    Cheers Shannon

    You need to config mail on Global Configuration
    <blockquote>Admin ->Site->Global Configuration->Server->Mail Settings</blockquote>
    Mailer: Select the method that is to be used to send e-mails from the web site. Select from the choices in the drop down list:
    PHP mail function
    Sendmail
    SMTP Server

    Mail From: Enter the e-mail address that will appear on all e-mails sent out by the web site. For example admin@yourdomain.com
    From Name: Enter the name that will appear in the From field on all e-mails sent out by the web site. For example: The Admin Team; The Web Master;
    Sendmail Path: This field displays the path to the Sendmail program on the host. This field is only used if the Mailer field is set to Sendmail and the mail server is running the Sendmail program.
    SMTP Auth: Select Yes if SMTP Authentication is required by the host mail server. This field is only used if the Mailer field is set to SMTP Server.
    SMTP User: If SMTP Authentication is required by the host mail server, enter the Username for the account. This field is only used if the Mailer field is set to SMTP Server and the SMTP Auth field is set to Yes.
    SMTP Pass: If SMTP Authentication is required by the host mail server, enter the Password for the account. This field is only used if the Mailer field is set to SMTP Server and the SMTP Auth field is set to Yes.
    SMTP Host: The web server identifies itself to the mail server with this name when sending mail. This is normally set to localhost if the mail server is on the same machine as the web server, but it may be necessary to check this detail with the hosting company, as appropriate, if this is unclear. This field is only used if the Mailer field is set to SMTP Server.

    Hi
    I think you’re unclear on the email address used to denote the source email. You must use a valid current account.
    Usually when you install a Joomla site you must give details of site name, email address & other details. Joomla uses THIS entered data for it’s setup.. The email address you enter at this point is the one the site will use for the mailer.

    You’re hosting account usually comes with several free email accounts. The email account will be whatever you choose to setup such as sales. Info. membership. etc @ whatever your domain name is.
    I.E.
    My domain name is monsoftwebdesign.net … Therefore any email account uses that domain name plus sales. info. membership to make a complete email address such as info@monsoftwebdesign.net which I then use as my email address in the mailer.

    As I said before you leave the php type as the setting put nothing in the SMTP fields and give it a real email address like I have described above. I hope everything is clear now
    Blessings Shannon

    @tfosnom: That’s right, you guided very clear about this.

    I think other guy can apply to config mail on global setting of joomla.
