August 21, 2008 at 9:01 am #266440Nice and clean, but in my opinion (of course!), nowhere near as classy as Nagya! Good clean business template though.

August 21, 2008 at 2:28 pm #266471This is good for those people who are looking for those Generic templates that they can customise to fit their needs precisely. There’s a lot of grey and some spots of colour on this one – making it suitable for many needs.
Well done.
However – the fact that it lacks specialist functionality is a big downside. As well as the fact that there is nothing really unique about it. Good be just a copy of a previous one.

August 21, 2008 at 3:36 pm #266479I was also very disappointed in this one. To me, it appears to have been put together very quickly.

August 21, 2008 at 4:37 pm #266492Why is it that so many people (usually those who complain) seem to believe that these templates are supposed to be ready-to-go / turnkey websites? They are not.
I actually like this tempalte a lot – simple, yet versitile for a wide variety of purposes – business site, information portal, affiliate portal, possibly even an informational online magazine. One of the things I like best about this template is the lack of left hand menu scheme – freeing up more real estate for quality content.

August 21, 2008 at 4:49 pm #266497It’s really not a template to jump through hoops about. A bit dull and simple for my taste but I could see where it could be easily customized. Although, whether it’s a negative or positive perspective towards JA I guess opinions are like a**holes…. everybody’s got one.
Hopefully we are all adult enough to be able to express our opinions without criticism. 😉

That’s YOUR opinion. A QuickStart package looks to me like a ready-to-go / turnkey website…replace the demo content with your own, and you’re up and running. That seems to be the general concept.
Why would someone expect a template NOT to be a turnkey solution? Sure, you have the ability to customize it. But many people use templates because they CAN BE a ready-to-go solution. Maybe I’m missing something, but the whole concept of a template seems to be an alternative to building a site on your own. Many, many people choose templates because they don’t want to deal with CSS or certain other aspects of developing websites. Because you don’t choose to use that approach, you criticise those of us who do.
Just because YOU think a template is only a starting point, that doesn’t mean others are wrong for viewing them as “QuickStart” turnkey sites. I’ve personally found that it’s often more trouble to customize an existing template than to create a site from scratch. So I prefer to choose a template that’s 90% the way I want it, then tweak to achieve the other 10%.
If you want to do more customization, more power to you. But quit criticizing those of us who use templates as near-ready-to-go solutions.

August 21, 2008 at 4:55 pm #266502Hi markb1439,
I am absolutely sure, that this has not been “put together quickly”. And even if the code had been written quickly, I can clearly see the design concept behind. Have a look at the code, the structure and the details. Would be interesting to hear any reasons for your judgement.
Thanks, Bernhard

You’re probably right. I just meant that was my general impression. Only my opinion. I just don’t happen to like this one, and I don’t think it reflects the level of detail and quality I see in other JA templates. But that’s just my take on it…it doesn’t mean I’m necessarily right. 😉
