Hi
I have just purchased membership to use Antares and have found a problemIf you take the demo version of this template and
set the Layout to 1 Module spotlight
and set the page width to max (fluid)Then you get a white strip across the spotlighted module
This seems to happen in IE and FFHave you a fix for this?
regards

HI Chris
Tested with Firefox 2.02 and I.E 7 here and I have no problems with any form of spotlight module I run the screen at 1024 x768 normally and set the width to auto etcTry and refresh your cache and reload is all I can offer unless you are running some weird resolution etc ?
Cheers ShannonN
May 2, 2007 at 11:17 am #219294I have cleared my cache and it made no difference.
I am running with 1280 x 1024 resolution.
If I change the window size the blank/white area appears as soon as I have a window over 1024 wide. This happens in both Firefox and IE

May 2, 2007 at 12:23 pm #219300swemmel;14439This is the bug that Chris is talking about.
Kind Regards,
Peter.424
cool still doesn’t happen here for me ? maybe Chris uses IE 6 or some other non compliant browser maybe a really slow connection, whatever it does not happen in FF 2 or IE 7 on my system 🙂
May 2, 2007 at 12:59 pm #219304I am running FF 2.0.03 and IE 7.0.573.11
On a 2Gb AMD Athon 4200+ Dual core with 1Mb broadband, 1280*1024 screen resolution.
I have been in software development for 30+ years and it looks to be a bug in the template when the screen or rather window size is over 1024 wideChris

HI Chris
I set my system to those unusual (for my viewing) settings and confirm the single module shows a white field, the other combos do not.
I think it would be rare to think someone would only want one module showing at that resolution as it looks so narrow (height) its almost useless. with two it looks far better balanced. Guess you must have a specific need for the single spotlight or you wouldn’t be pursuing it

May 2, 2007 at 5:56 pm #219319Hi
Sorry if I sounded wrong when I mentioned my background, but some IT support areas assume you no nothing. PS I have little knowledge of CSS so will not be doing any mods.
Template allows the user to set the screen width and their own screen resolution. So it is difficult to know how many modules will look right.
My customer wants to be able to have a single module so a fix is needed.Chris
PS on my customers PC two modules do not display correctly at all times, they appear below each other. I have not been able to reproduce this yet. I will try and nail down the circumstances when this happens.

Hi Chris
I understand re your background, but I never assume prior knowledge, indeed I often answer based on a noob background just in case.well its definitely a css thing, strange though it doesn’t show two side by side on other systems. if it shows two modules under each other that indicates there is not enough width to display both side by side basically the equivalent of word wrap?
Can you confirm on these other systems the browser window is actually maximized? I have seen what looks to be maximized but a click on right box increases the size marginally and makes just that wack of difference?
It is an unusual resolution, I gather its for a lcd or laptop display that has wide screen capabilities.
I’ll have a look at teh css code for the widths etc and see if I can see something and get back to you
Cheers ShannonN
May 8, 2007 at 12:31 pm #219676I have done a couple of tests and it seems that the gap in the display is caused by two of the graphics not being wide enough. 1280 wide screen with auto width the images for the right hand side are not wide enough.
Two side by side modules – after a fair bit of testing I cannot reproduce this issue – so please ignore until I can understand if or when it happens.

November 26, 2008 at 3:17 pm #280384Hi,
I have discovered this thread which may have a solution to my problem.
I am using a template that I have modified for my own site. It is a simple template with a sidebar on the left and a content panel taking up most of the screen.
I can see the results perfectly on my PC but when I look at it on laptops with different resolution the 2 areas move a bit.
My questions are:
Is there specific code I should put into either the css file or index.php which will allow it to be viewed correctly in most resolutions?
I see this thread mentions – page width auto, can you explain this briefly.
In my CSS text should I use % width and % height parameters rather than width and height in pixels?
I am using Joomla 1.5 with assigned templates for different pages. Link below

Many thanks,
M
