I’m using JA Teline IV which comes default with K2 Component installed. My question is even though there are dozens of categories and sample items onK2 none are published in the demo quick install site and all article are published from the Joomla article manager. I would like anyones opinion on whether to use K2 to manage articles or just continue to use the Joomla article manager. Is it worth the effort to use K2 over the Joomla article manager? Any opinions appreciated. Thanks….

K2 is worth it for the extended fields. The feature most-often associated with K2 – nested categories – is now available in Joomla 1.6. Joomla Art offers a nice module that let’s you search the extended fields.

The image/media upload seesm to be the most advantageous feature that I would use nested categories would help too. As soon as Teline IV is fully 1.6 compliant I will just upgrade….. My site is only in it’s infancy so it doesn’t hurt for me to play around a bit at this time…. I appreciate the info very much…..

Another advantage of K2 over the Joomla core is media support. Embedding a video in your articles is as simple as a drop-down menu. When time is at a premium, this is a great advantage. So, the idea that K2 will somehow not be needed with J1.6 is very wrong.

What I’d like to see is more interaction between Joomla modules and K2 modules. I’d like to see a ‘related’ module that would read the meta of both Joomla and K2 articles. My goal is to make the back-end differences of Joomla and K2 invisible to my readers.

I, too, am awaiting the full upgrade of Teline IV to J1.6. I believe the only items needing upgrading are JA NewsPro (which is currently in testing, according to the powers-that-be) and the template, itself. Some unofficial testing finds TIV usable on J1.6, except for the ability to list your categories on the front page. Single article display appears correctly.
