July 11, 2008 at 2:05 pm #259245Hi Z
OK, ja-news articles are set by default to be the last published in each of your main sections will arrive on the front page. You can change this if you want to.
For ja-news-frontpage, you have to use the Front Page manager to set which order you want them in (oh, and articles have to have ‘front page’ clicked when you publish otherwise they won’t appear in the front page manager).
Good luck

Just some technicalities but they are critical in the Joomlart Lexicon:
- Homepage => Intro page of the site, in layman’s language this is also called FrontPage. Older articles that are not in the FrontPage, may be placed in the FrontPage by going to the Edit Page
- [JA News FrontPage, refers to that two-column news module you see at tthe top of the Homepage with a larger image accompanying more text than the ones on its right side.
- JA News Module –this module, found just below the [JA News FrontPage, in the Demo page, is where the bulk of the News are contained: Here, the ordering of articles are determined in general via the JA News Module
- Article Order:
- Group by Category orSection:
However, FrontPage has a different meaning in Joomlart lexicon
As Chris stated, when you create an article, in the Edit section of each article, you must check FrontPage.
For Joomla 1.5x
Administrator => Contents => Article Manager (click to be transported to list of Articles)
In the Articles Manager, do a combination of the following; select
=> Section
=> => Category
=> => Select Author
=> => Select State (Published, Unpublished, Archived)to narrow down the number of articles. Once this is done, click on the desired article, click to be transported to the Edit page. Click Front Page to include an existing article in the Front Page module, Save.
and repeat the ordering procedure outlined below
Once you designate an article to be included in the [JA News FrontPage, module, the default mode is to have the latest addition as the lead article in the [JA News FrontPage, module. However, you can modify this default chronological order by manually changing the oder, as you wish.
This manual ordering is done via the Front Page Manager:
Administrator => Contents => Front Page Manager:
In Joomla 1.5x:
Administrator => Extensions => Module Manager => JA News Module (click to open)To the right of the JA News Module, you will see two very important features:
=> Order (Default)
=> =>this should mean that you can manually change the order, but if you do not, as in the FronPage, the latest will be placed at the top. I have not tried this yet, but this is the best option.
=> Created Date
=> Modified DateBe sure to select Section for the Homepage layout.
This is the other key part of ordering the Sections in the Homepage. I have a tutorial for this in the Victor series, but Chris has not prepared a visual version on it yet.Cornelio
