Not all components are listed under “Page Assignments”. In particular, I’d like to have special layout for Qlue 404 component as it didn’t render the JA Tabs (tabs needs onAfterRoute event to be trigged…).

What is the criteria for including components into the list “Page Assignments”?

So when you installed the particular components, the installation did not render page selection items to select from while you’re working within your Menu Manager?

This MAY be more of an issue with the particular component than with the template itself. perhaps un/reinstall the particular components – remembering to clear the JAT3 cache?

Simply click on the name of the Component to link to. URL: Identifies the actual URL of the internal page to which the Menu Item will create, presuming you are wanting the component to be select-able as a menu item would be.

So, it’s clear – a component should have a menu item linked (page view available when you are trying to create a menu item). Qlue 404 component does not create a menu item, and it’s not an issue of the component – 404 page shouldn’t have a link to it 🙂 I’ll try to modify the component to include a .xml for menu selection.
As regards plugins’ events – 404 error is implying only the first (initial) events. I experimented with adding others “system” triggers (like “onAfterRoute”) to Qlue 404 pluing – no success, only errors…
