    Hi redlight_traitor,

This is way off topic, but is the Comment program that you used a default comment program or an extensions script that you downloaded? Which company did you get it from?

It’s Jomcomment from azrul.com – awesome commercial extension I’ve been using for a while. feel free to PM me if you need more info about it.

The reason why I didn’t set a max characters is because that really messes up the layout. Another thing is that no matter what, I must have a working “READ MORE” so that the whole article doesn’t show up during the section lists and the category lists.

What really bugs me is that everything was working fine just a week ago! Now, it’s like the READ MORE and PAGE BREAK lines aren’t being processed. They are simply being displayed as though they were a piece of my article and nothing more.

This person here has the same exact problem.

Is there anyway a mod can fix this title to show correctly to “READ MORE NOT WORKING?”

    Thanks redlight_traitor,

How much is it? I assume it has a choice so that only registered members can leave comments, is that correct?

By the way, in your site, anyone could leave comments. My experience is that spammers live “commercials” whenever they see interactive sites like this, if it is open to the public. A savvy hacker can use it to attack your site. Just so you know the potential risk.

At the very least, you must use a captcha, if you want to allow the public to post comment. A good comments script must have option to check the email is valid (but anyone can use a working email even if it is not theirs). So, for security reasons, I only allow registered members to leave comments.

    Just my preference though.

I know the feeling, there are so many variables. And when something goes wrong, it is difficult to diagnose what really went wrong. It is obvious something has triggered it. More than likely, it is not JA Teline II that is causing the problem because it seems to be working with Joomla 1.0x.

But, alll these uncertainties, reported here, is the reason why I opted to use the Joomla 1.0x version — less bugs and more stable. Maybe, in a year, or so, there will be less problems.

PM Menalto, and request him to change the title. you are correct, it is misleading.

The component is $25 which gives you access to several other great components. I’m not worried about spammers at the moment but I will be later on. For some reason jomcomment does very well at fending off spammers even with captcha disabled.

OK…. here is the fix, so far. It’s not perfect but it does work. Install another editor, I’m using the free FCK editor, and just remove the READ MORE that you already have and then re-insert it. Voila, it works. I don’t know why this works but goodluck!

    Thanks redlight_traitor,

I will keep this in mind, especially if they have permissions mechanism so that will allow the admin to decide who can leave comments. $25 is not bad. Is it native for both Joomla 1.0x and Joomla 1.5x. I hope they update regularly, as Joomla upgrades. That is a problem of some of the extensions I bought — very slow upgrade. One reason why I cannot use Joomla 1.5x, right now.

I was using another comment script, but when I installed it with one template, the style was so glaringly different from the Joomlart template — if I spend a few hours fiddling with the CSS, it will cost me more that $25. The fact that it is free, I feel obligated not to remove the company’s mark. that is more an issue for me because I do not want, especially my non-profit websites to become ad sites.

I like how the comments form blended quite well with the simple style of the Teline II articles page.

That is what I told you to do yesterday. 🙂 I was puzzled by the problem because it did not make sense. As you stated just now, deleting the old “Read More”, and replacing it with a new one did the trick, with whatever default editor was in the QuickStart kit.

One thing though, when I copied from your site, and posted it in my Demo site, I must have copied some mark ups inadvertently, it messed up my layout big time. To reverse it, I have to start clean — no html mark ups at all, then re-introduced some. It is quite difficult to isolate the culprit, otherwise.

I hope it will remain working. Goodluck

Yes… it looks like any editor that’s not the default joomla one will work. As for jomcomment, I have been using them for nearly 2 years now and they are VERY PROFESSIONAL. So many updates and many new features. They are a great company. I would highly recommend them to all. No other comment component comes close. Many that were started back then have all been abandoned now. Jomcomment comes with numerous templates for you to play around with.
