I am also just learning the ropes over here. I’m not ready for SOBI or K2 yet. By the way, I like the drop-down menu you have which gives people the option to choose Indonesia or the Philippines and then other drop-downs appear. Where did you get this extension? And was it hard to install?
If you go to the website I’m working on, http://www.pan-america.org, you will see that I am using Jump_link – or something like that – to direct people to specific pages. In reality, I would like to send people to states (US) and then cities. Please tell me how you did this.
I downloaded SOBI2, which is free. Then uploaded it to the server and linked it to a page. Then I created categories and within the categories sub categories. So far so good. Now have to work out how to make a nice template for the results to come up in.
When you did this, did you have to completely restructure the Teline III template or were you able to keep all your sections and categories?
I have not changed anything. All i did was create a new section which I then linked SOBI to.
I see. Did the new section appear in your “magazine” menu? Can you send the link again so I can see how this worked. So, you basically just add a section and then link Sobi to it? I would like the search drop-down menus to appear in the front page. Do you think I could link Sobi2 to the top of the page?
I placed the new section in the magazine menu. Or reactivated one of the ones I had not been using. Then i linked SOBI to it and away i went. I guess you could put the SOBI component anywhere on the site
