Hi, I am using the Uber home-university template and Joomla 3.4.4

I would like to add some padding to the left and right of my page (maybe 100px each side). Also, have this a different colour – for example blue.

See the attached image for an example.

How can I achieve this?

I’m not sure which layout you are using.
Assume it’s default.

Open

templatesubertplsdefault.php

Replace line 38 by

<div class="mainbody-wrapper">
<?php $this->loadBlock('mainbody') ?>
</div>

Apply custom.css

.mainbody-wrapper {background-color:red}

and

.t3-mainbody {

background-color: #fff
}

And you’ll have like this

Your suggestion doesn’t do what i like. As you can see from my image i would like the coloured bar on each side of the page, not through the centre as your suggestion does.

Any othet suggestions?

Do you mean all content will go to center ( everything also with menu ) with sidebar left / right ?

Yes. I would like my content to be in the middle and for there to be blue on either side (for example 100px blue each side).
