I apologize if this was already answered – I did look first 🙂
I have a website that will have multiple domain names pointed to it. For my hosting it will be set up with a single domain and then the second domain name will just “point” to the first one.
Does this mean that I need to use up 2 of the “domains” for the 1 site on my account? Or is it fine that both domain names point to EXACTLY the same site on the same server? My hosting provider calls this “parking” a domain (or pointing it) to the site. From my provider:
“Domain pointers allow you to “point” or “park” additional domain names to your existing hosting account. This will allow users to also reach your website when entering the “parked” or “pointed” domain into their browsers.”
Thanks in advance for the answer!

If the template is installed on one domain, it counts as one domain. A redirect still only points to one domain, so technically the template is not installed on more than one. Redirect to your hearts content. 🙂1 user says Thank You to instantinlaw for this useful post

That’s true jonathanq!April 6, 2008 at 4:25 pm #244570Perfect – that was the answer I was hoping for!
One last question – if I purchased, say, the 5 year license w/ 10 domains. What happens when the 10 domains are used up. Am I given an option to renew early (and gain another 10 domains for $200 – but I don’t necessarily get 5 additional years on top of my current 5 – like if I was 1 year into it, would it just make my expiry date 5 years from that date?).
My reason for asking is that – although the Developer license would be ideal – I am only a part time web designer. I do it on occasion – but it is not my main form of income. As a result I can’t justify a $499 cost for 1 year – However I could see the benefit for $200 for 10 domains (which I may not even use up in 1 or 2 years).
However I am unsure what happens once those 10 are used up. Obviously I could simply open another account and get an additional 10 – but it seems silly to do it that way. I am just wondering what sort of upgrade options I would have.
Thanks!
