I have read that some other users are getting an error when trying to use the PDF button on an article. I tried the suggested fix of increasing the memory limit in the php.ini and I no longer get the error.
The problem is I don’t get anything at all!
A window pops up but the PDF is not created.
Any ideas?

January 19, 2009 at 1:18 pm #287089Okay, so now it seems to work – strange!
But… it ends up with some very strange spacing in the PDF document. Is this normal?
January 21, 2009 at 4:36 pm #287487Right, this only works for me in Firefox, not in IE7. Any ideas?
Also, the spacing in the PDF is really messed up, nothing like how it appears on the site.
Any help would be gratefully received.

January 21, 2009 at 10:25 pm #287515A quick thought. Try the PDF button on JA Pyrite demo and see if it works fine there. This will eliminate any quirks in your browsers and if it works look at demos source code for PDF class etc as against your own code. Firebug extension in Firefox is great for this kinda debugging

I did as you suggested with the Pyrite demo and got exactly the same results:
1. The PDF is not generated in IE7
2. The PDF is generated in FF but the spacing is messed up
Anyone know how I might fix this? Surely IE7 is the most widely-used browser on the planet…

I’d ask the forum users with IE 7 to check the pryrite demo and your site just to eliminate your own copy of IE7 from the equation? I can’t say re IE 7s popularity I’d imagine IE 6 is the biggest, As I rarely use IE at all I opt to have it auto update to latest versions etc
For the rare usage I have of IE V8 Beta seems to work fine for me I display all JA demo sites fine so that’s probably my biggest usage of IE?
I wonder with IE does it need the adobe pdf reader plugin installed? Or enabled? Look in Tools, Manage addins
for the Adobe PDF Reader Link Helper under Publisher Adobe Systems, Incorporated check to see if it is enabled as a Browser Helper ObjectThat’s about all I can think of to assist at this time
I hope you find the problem soon and know you’ll let us know the cause when you find it
