June 14, 2012 at 3:40 pm #178164We have some huge performance issues on JA Wall, please check http://www.airsoftwall.com/
We tested our website on GTmetrix, please see our results here: http://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.airsoftwall.com/z4ZAWlaF
Summarized:
Page Speed Grade: E (52%)
YSlow Grade: D (65%)Page load time: 28.69s
Total page size: 13.9MB
Total number of requests: 477What to do to improve this? We already optimized our htaccess with the master htaccess >> http://magazine.joomla.org/issues/Issue-June-2012/item/787-htaccess-File-That-FREAKIN-Works
Would is be usefull to replace the pseudo cron with a server side cron?
Any advice is welcome!

June 15, 2012 at 7:43 am #457513Hi gjrweb,
It it really hard to archive a good page load performance when you load a ton of content on initial page.
You can set the number of article load on home page. JA Wall has infinity-scroll function. When user scroll down, the page will load other item. It will make the page load faster. To specify the number of item load, please follow this step.
1. Open home menu item in edit mode
2. Expand Blog Layout Options section on the right
3. Set the number of item here# Leading Articles 0
# Intro Articles 20
# Columns 1
# Links 0This setting will force your site load 20 articles only when the page load.
Hope it helps.
Regards

June 18, 2012 at 10:54 am #457832Works better indeed, now the laze load also works properly.
In the sample data we used those category blog layout options were empty.
Please keep an eye on performance 😉

June 24, 2012 at 4:37 pm #458640Just in case it helps anyone, pseudo cron made my site almost unusable, users had to reload each page twice. First time loads showed blank pages.

June 25, 2012 at 2:11 am #458655Hi wombat1,
It would be better if you try to optimize the JA Social Feed plugin.
Please delete (if possible) or disable all profiles which you are not using.
Also please increase the interval time up to 3600 (1 hours) or even 7200 (2 hours) based on your social feed update frequency.Hope it helps.
Regards

June 27, 2012 at 1:19 am #458963Hi aussiemike,
JA Social Feed Plugin let you change the interval from setting page.
1. Open Plugin Managers -> System – JA Social Feed
2. Active General tab
3. Set Cron Interval value.Save
Hope it helps.

June 27, 2012 at 7:15 pm #459105Hi Wallcrasher
Thanks for that. I was aware of that being there. I got the impression from the above post that it was better to set up a cronjob in the CPANEL of my hosting (pseudo cron?). I must have misunderstood.I am using K2 Categories for my front page. I keep getting blank pages. I reset my CRON to run every hour but the blank page still occurs. It is intermittent but is still annoying. It also happens sometimes when a registered user goes to their K2 page. I have not launched the site yet and would like to get these few things sorted out first.
Any advice appreciated,
June 27, 2012 at 11:04 pm #459116I seem to have fixed it. I had too many K2 items loading on the front page. Sorry to bother.

June 28, 2012 at 6:30 pm #459218Just to clarify my post. Yes. In our case if we activated the pseudo-cron plugin the site would give errors and blank pages, however when we turned this off everything was back to normal. We did play around with the settings but any which way we tried was causing blank pages. I am going to see if reducing the number of K2 items helps. Thanks for that.

June 29, 2012 at 9:39 am #459303Hi wombat1,
How about your problem status?
Please send me your site information (link, admin, ftp) so I can take a look.Regards
July 1, 2012 at 10:36 pm #459445I am still getting blank pages. If I go to a page after not viewing for a while it comes up blank. Refreshing the page then shows the items. This happens even when there are only two articles on the page that are not coming from the social feed plugin.
Any advice?
Regards
