February 26, 2013 at 11:50 pm #185335Sadly I am finding out that one of the more powerful features of Joomla 2.5 is not being exploited with the Job Board. Why that is is not clear but it sure does limit what can be done with respect to views and access. Why does this tool not allow us to take advantage of this and create our own user groups and access levels?
The wiki does not go into much detail on this or at least I am not seeing it but I would like some more information on how the Job Board works with permissions and do I have the ability to manipulate them in any way and if so where do I do that? I hate the fact that I am stuck with the developers idea of what permissions should be used and would like to know how I can modify them and where?
Is there any plan to give us the power to create profiles using Joomla 2.5 and have the Job Board honor them? Seems like a huge oversight to not be using this.

February 27, 2013 at 5:06 am #484688Hi Earthrat,
Unfortunately, as you know, the JA Job Board is a Individual system which allow you build a Job system. So it only manages objects as job, jobseeker, employer,… Also, this component needs a special permission system. While Joomla ACL only manages elements on Joomla system and are general permissions. Therefore, we cannot use Joomla permissions system for Jobboard. Hope you understand this.

March 11, 2013 at 8:36 pm #486062Reading this again I apologize for the rude reply. However I still don’t get how the permissions for the job board are different than that for Joomla? Regardless what I am discovering is that even when a user registers either as a job seeker or an employer they are not showing up in the user permissions>user area under any group. While they are there in the job board manager there is no way to set permissions since they are not showing up to give permissions to. Is there something I am missing in order to get these users in the permissions manager?

March 12, 2013 at 7:25 pm #486220Thanks, yes I have got my head around this. The problem is that the user is not showing up in the User area and so there is no way to add permissions to them. I am able to use the user import but I still cannot figure out how to have them automatically added when they subscribe? I am using the “JA Job Board » Job Seeker register layout” menu and have it set in the job board Accounts and I recall you saying that all this is setup on that menu but there are no parameters in this menu unless there is a plugin that I missed somewhere?

March 23, 2013 at 5:48 pm #487576I am trying to setup the job board admin and followed the instructions from here.
http://wiki.joomlart.com/wiki/JA_Job_Board_2.5/How_to
When I go to set the permissions there are only a few of them checked and when I check them all off and save it just resets to the ones it had before. Seems to me that even as a super admin I do not have permissions to set permissions.

March 25, 2013 at 2:17 am #487640Dear Earthrat,
A new Joomla! administrator has no administration rights in Job Board component but Joomla! super-administrators have full permissions. In the image below you can see back-end permissions list for the Job Board administration.
That mean you need to log in backend by super admin account.Regards
