I’ve got some main menu items that don’t link to anything themselves but yield submenu items in the dropline box. Those main menu items are declared as “separator/placeholders:. However, if I click on one, I am redirected to a page that says:

    Not Found
The requested URL /” was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    1. How can I make these placeholder items not hypertext links (and instead be simply unclickable as they would be in a regular Joomla/non-suckerfish-type menu)?

2.Does the 404 error suggest another problem that needs solving?

    Thanks for your help.

If you create a new menu item and use URL link method just put “#” ( minus quotes) in the in the url field it is a dummy anchor, look here and test the ‘dummy link’ to see in action

    Hope that solves the problem

Thanks. That’s a workaround and I’ll use it. However, it still seems to me to not be the correct solution. In a published mainmenu (normally on the left or right), a separator/placeholder item is only a table item (albeit a useless one) and not anchored hypertext as well.

I’d like to poke around and see if I can fix this. Is it Joomla or is it the template that is generating the anchor code around this menu item? If you have any suggestions where I might start looking in the code, I’d like to hear them.

    Regards,
