I am trying to get my login form that is currently within the sidebar to go into the topbar-r as an image of a person which opens up to allow logging in.
This will show to the right of the search.

Can anybody help me.

Hi
In that case it would be better if you will create a new module position for the login module in the topbar .
and publish the module on new created position .
Here is tutorial to create new module positions .

Or try this
go to templatesja_teline_vtplsblockstopnav.php
find this code

and publish the module on new created position .
