I would like to play a 30 second mp3 file when the someone first comes to the site. I would like to only play it once per visit. Any thoughts how I could do this?

You will find a lot of module’s who can do that here:

http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/multimedia/audio-players-a-gallery

Just try a couple to find out wich one suits you the best, i personally find it very very annoying when a site i visit has a sound automaticly playing, and i think quite some people with me. Keep that in mind if you are going to implent such a thing.
