HAve you actually added any content to your site yet? If not, why not do a quick reinstall of the quickstart?

do you mean there are no templates (ja templates) including the default ones or some other tempates.

can you check your files on your ftp / hard drive to see if the actual template files are there? sorry about this – it is long winded but I’m trying to understand the whole picture here.

would you mind sending me a temporary login via pm? As i now finish work for the day – I might not be able to look at this until tomorrow. is that ok?

yes, the site was nearly complete !! i used the quickstart upload around a week ago and have been plugging away at the site. i was happy that i did not add many extra mod to this site. i added the jce editor which i like a lot and then couldn’t remember how to change the footer and remembered that i had used the mod_customfooter on another site.

oddly yesterday i was looking for the footer module that i thought would be in the components. well, i couldn’t find…although i see it now, and if i had seen it yesterday would never have installed the other.

let me see about a login

the site is nearly done. what if i install only the template and my concern is this is going to happen again. if it’s the mod_customfooter why did the site work ok immeditely after ?

i reinstalled just the template…the set the default to fagus and got this message
Fatal error: Class ‘JSite’ not found in /home/evegro/public_html/jimgroton/administrator/templates/fagus/ja_menus/Base.class.php on line 25

now i can’t even get to the administration.

ok, i want to reinstall the whole thing. is there a way that i can save my articles via my access to the site files via ftp ? i don’t see a folder called articles.

and do i just reinstall right and overwrite everything or do i have to delete everything and then reinstall. i use hostgator and although they have fantastico, i opted to do the quickstart. should i do fantastico and then install the template this time around.

thank you … i have so much work to do !! thanks.

    Hi ellie_t
Do you have any successful ?

no. and i have to start over. so i have just reinstalled the quickstart and now i want to install a couple of modules, but scared. i installed 3 on my site and i guess one of them caused the problem but then i am beginning to wonder. i am using hostgator and couldn’t help but notice that their service today was very very slugish. i am talking servers and customer service and it makes me wonder if something happened on their end.

the modules i installed are ones that i have used on other sites so i am really confused and afraid this may happen again. the modules that i installed were qcontacts, jce editor plugin and custom footer.

anyway i hope this one works as i was nearly finished with the site already.

    thank you for checking.

jce editor plugin

did you install the JCE component also, you need the component for the plugin to work

yes, thank you…and i am already thinking of reinstalling because it does so much. i just wish i knew why my site became corrupted so i know what to avoid. i am in legacy mode now because i just installed joomlapack so i can save myself if this happens again.

    morning ellie

I’ve got qcontacts installed and that works great on my site. however, as mentioned via pm – i can’t confirm whether it was jce or my footer that may have caused the problem.

thanks that helps. i am going to try the footer that you use, and one question that i meant to ask. when your core joomla becomes corrupt, does it make sense that files inside your joomla installation would be deleted?

    thanks,
    e
