As can open pdf documents in the same way that images, videos, etc …

Images and video use japopup. I’ve tried to open a pdf using JA Popup and it doesn’t work

There is, it’s not a popup plugin, it embeds the PDF file in your content .
Do a search in the Joomla extension directory.
