    Hi’
    I’m trying to adapt the Pollux-template for my present use.

    I’m having a bit of problem with the menu’s

    I want to have the left navigation area as the primary navigation. And instead use the top-navigation for some other purposes.

    But As it works today the links-items in the left navigation automatically copies it self to the the topmenu…

    I fail to se see the great perspective in have to identical menu’s on the same page…

    Could someone please help to either removing the topmenu completely – but preferably setting the system so I’d be able to customize the topmenu separately…

    Thanks in advance..

    Refer to your index.php file and remove the following DIVs

    <div id="ja-mainnav">
    ................
    </div>

    and

    <div id="ja-subnavwrap">
    ................
    </div>

    … will it enable me to use the joomla topmenu instead… As you might recall I would like to have two different menus: One in the left navigationmenu (mainmenu) and one in top of the page..

    So: If I remoe the divs as suggested, will it simply remove the topmenu that today appears as a copy of the mainmenu or will it reinstate the topmenu from the joomla menu-system

    I am not sure what you want to do with the top menu, keep it or remove it?
    If you want to to keep but use different menutypes then you can edit it in the index.php file. The configuration is well documented in the userguide

    PS: Move thread to Pollux forum

    Thanks for your replies: Let me try to explain what I need in a more accurate manner.

    I building a site for a client, that needs lots of different pages. A very informative site for an institution for disabled people.

    When I create new links for the main menu in the left side, they automatically copies them selves to the topmenu… when having up to 8-9-10 links items the top-menu grows so it blocks some of the graphics in the top-area…

    What I want is to have 4-5 links items in the top and all the rest in the main menu…

    It suddenly struck me: Perpahps I could unpublish the main menu, so it wouldn’t appear in the left side… and then use the ‘other menu’ in the left side? But will this also cause the the topmenu tio disappear?

    I’ll have to try – please comment if I’m on the wrong track here…

    PS – I’ll move the thread as suggested to the Pollux-forum

    Thanks again

    they automatically copies them selves to the topmenu
    This means that you are loading the same menu at the topmenu and left module. Now you can go to Modules and unpublish mainmenu module on the left and publish “Other menu”
    Go to Menu Manager and add/remove menu items of the Other menu.
    Now you will not see “they automatically copies them selves to the topmenu”

    … and I let you go about do your own business!

    It worked just fine when I unpublish the main menu and instead used the other menu…
    But how do I get the other menu to expand-collapse in the same way as the main menu?

    When I marked the expand button in the module for the other menu it shows the sublinks in a static fashion… The appear alle the time…

    PS
    Thanks for your patience…

    The menu on the left module is standard Joomla menu, you can use the expand/close animation on the top menu only/
    They are either suckerfish dropdown or transmenu which are integrated in the template and become exclusive features of JA templates
    It glad to know your issues are now solved, finally 😀
