July 28, 2008 at 8:50 pm #131455Labra has only one built-in ad position, and it’s at the bottom of the page and is just a little smaller than a standard 728×90 ad size.

July 29, 2008 at 1:27 am #262769The position we put in the template is only the standard position of Joomla! banner ad. Since the requirement of each users are always different, we only leave there a position for advertisement. You can always expand it or insert another position to the template. Many site using right/left column for ad, or others using javascript for banner on the free space at left/right site. Even they can use the position of JA Flowlist for some other ad. It is very depend on the webmaster.

No, this is very poorly done with Labra. The template’s div widths would have to be totally resized–but just by a few pixels!–to fit a standard 728×90 banner into the main content area or the other divs in the center. The standard 468×60 banner fits but is dwarfed by the main content area, tabs, and other adjacent matter–it’s a poor use of space and leaves a lot of blank space.
As for using the left and the right columns for ads, you will find that the drag and drop tools cause a lot of problems. Most people will want to to create left and right module positions for ads that can’t be moved or minimized. But if you do put a standard joomla ad module into a drag-and-drop left or right position, you will find that it loads up closed/minimized in Firefox.
Bottom line: this template requires significant modification if you intend to have much advertising on it. If you’re up to the task, it’s not a big problem, but it would be better if Labra left enough room for a standard full size “leaderboard” banner in its full width/wide setting.
