    Hi
i have a few questions, maybe the are possible now, but i didnt found out how.
maybe they need to be coded first. (if so, i hope to get an answer: if it is planned, and when yes, is there any scheduled timeplan for that feature)

Is it possible to exclude a word from search result with a hypen/minus in front of the word?
(like you may know from google search)

Is it possible to highlight the search term inside the search result?

Is it possible to get a logical/relevance order of the search result? (search term found inside a h1 should come above same term inside a h5 and multible search term inside a single article should come above one with only one. like http://anything-digital.com/advanced-site-search/multi-site-relevant-search-for-joomla.html)

Is it possible to search through attached PDFs?

Is it somehow possible to set “component” configuration (Search Configuration, Search Result Item Layout, Item View Options, Extra-fields View Options) based on module instead only global?

If something is not clear or not detailed enough or need example, just ask and i try to give the information.

    Best Regards

Thank you for your attention about our product. Hope my answers below would help:

<blockquote>Is it possible to exclude a word from search result with a hypen/minus in front of the word?
(like you may know from google search)</blockquote>

This feature is not implemented for keyword search function in the current version of JA K2 filter, but it is seem not hard to get it done. I’ll raise this feature to our issue tracker system for further consideration.
You can check status of this issue here

<blockquote>Is it possible to highlight the search term inside the search result?</blockquote>
No, JA K2 Filter does not support this feature now.
I have forwarded this feature to our development team for further consideration here: here

<blockquote>Is it possible to get a logical/relevance order of the search result?</blockquote>
No, JA K2 Filter does not support this feature.

<blockquote>Is it possible to search through attached PDFs?</blockquote>
No, JA K2 Filter only supports to search in database.

<blockquote>Is it somehow possible to set “component” configuration (Search Configuration, Search Result Item Layout, Item View Options, Extra-fields View Options) based on module instead only global?</blockquote>
Yes, you can have custom settings of each search result page via setting form of menu item (you need to assign result page displays on menu item type JA K2 filter >> item list)

<blockquote>if it is planned, and when yes, is there any scheduled timeplan for that feature</blockquote>
At present, we are focusing on monthly template and upgrade templates and extensions to be compatible with Joomla 3.3.0. So the plan to upgrade JA K2 filter can be delayed to next month. Hope you understand our situation.

<em>@Dead Code 427920 wrote:</em><blockquote>about exclude searchterm: here</blockquote>thx, hope it is clear that its a combinated search include and exclude different searchterms at the same time (was not sure when i read the issue description)

<em>@Dead Code 427920 wrote:</em><blockquote>about highlight: here</blockquote>thx, hope it can handle highlight better than joomla-core when text contians special characters like äöü.

<em>@Dead Code 427920 wrote:</em><blockquote>about relevant search-ordering: No, JA K2 Filter does not support this feature.</blockquote>What a pity! that would be a big improvement, but i understand that it would be difficult to implement.

<em>@Dead Code 427920 wrote:</em><blockquote>about PDF-Search: No, JA K2 Filter only supports to search in database.</blockquote>sad, but fully understandable. (for that pdf had to be indexed first, and neither k2 or this search do it, is there any Component/Extension you know that is compatible with your search who can do that?)

<em>@Dead Code 427920 wrote:</em><blockquote>about custom settings: via setting form of menu item </blockquote>thx, i had looked at this, did i see it right: I can set with that only the “Search Result Item Layout” and not the “Item View Options, Extra-fields View Options” too?

<em>@Dead Code 427920 wrote:</em><blockquote>about timeplan: can be delayed to next month.</blockquote>I understand, i had never expect that it will be solved instantly. it is more that i know what chances i have to get that feature till i have to finish my website

    A long questions & answers 😀

<blockquote>thx, hope it is clear that its a combinated search include and exclude different searchterms at the same time (was not sure when i read the issue description)</blockquote>

Yes, we have plan to update search with advanced keyword that supports some operators like what Google does, and you can combine some search terms once.

<blockquote>thx, hope it can handle highlight better than joomla-core when text contians special characters like äöü. </blockquote>

I have reported to development team to add this into checklist.

<blockquote>What a pity! that would be a big improvement, but i understand that it would be difficult to implement.</blockquote>
I am afraid it is temporarily not in our to-do list. Should we receive more requests for this feature, we can consider further.

<blockquote>sad, but fully understandable. (for that pdf had to be indexed first, and neither k2 or this search do it, is there any Component/Extension you know that is compatible with your search who can do that?)</blockquote>

Sorry, I have no idea on any extension that supports this feature. Please search on JED if you can find any extension that meets your requirement.

<blockquote>thx, i had looked at this, did i see it right: I can set with that only the “Search Result Item Layout” and not the “Item View Options, Extra-fields View Options” too?</blockquote>

We have added settings for “Item View Options” in dev version, please have a look at thread below for more information.

first: i wish to thank for the advanced search operators and the highlight function 🙂
    they work like a charm.

anything new about this? I am sure that such feature would be something that many users would like.
and the importance for that is much greater for bigger sites than for little sites. because when a search provide only a few results, it doesnt matter (or not much) which order the result have because you mostly see all results at once.
but if you have a site that gives you hundreds results the order is most important.
and not always is order by (date/title/ordering/hits) useful, they are partly perfect, but …
for most cases i would say: a order by relevance would be better. (especially when they would be combined)

for example if you search for radeon grafikcard you dont wish to see all pc/laptops with build in radeon grafikcard first, no matter if they are topseller or not, you wish to see first items with searchterm in title. (then maybe build in pc/laptop, than mainbords with socket for that card)
or if you search for example a movie with a actor you like, you wish to see first the movies where he is the main actor, and not a movie where you see him only a few min/sec (first maybe page about that actor, than movies where he is main actor, then where he is supporting actor, and at least where you see him a few min/sec)
you cant order that, because for every actor there would be a different ordering for same movie.

Primary a relevance based ordering of search results should based on this

    • relevance based on which place searchterm is found. (extrafield/title/text) each should have his own relevance
    • when search term found inside a h1 it should come above same result where term is inside a h5
    • multiple findings of search term inside a single article should come above one with only one

is there any chance that this will come in near future?
and is there any way to improve that chance / to reduce the time till it come?
if it is not possible for free, what would you think that JoomlaArt need as fee to do that?

the only thing besides this, that i partly miss is:
better performance (faster search) => but i think problem with that comes from the way K2 save extrafields.
any hint/tip to improve “speed”: when your site has over 10’000 K2 items, and over 50 extrafields

    Hi,

Thanks you for your long and detailed explanation about this feature.
I will pass this to our development team for consideration. However, I am not in the position to confirm whether this feature is added or not.

And as you know, we can only implement selected features requested due to our limited resources. Further, for features that are for specific system only, we could not support, unless we receive more requests from users.

Hope for your understanding on this.
