February 16, 2016 at 11:40 am #884303I would like to know if I can automatically generate a menu from the categories so that the filtering is correctly done by this fine component. Possible?
I will have at least 50 categories and I might change the names on them … so that’s why I am asking 😉

February 17, 2016 at 7:39 am #885012Hi @christofferl,
Could you please clarify a little bit so I can assist you better ? I’m not sure why you want to generate a category based menu in order to make the JA K2 Filter work.

February 17, 2016 at 8:50 am #885065As this component can not generate a static expanded display of all (or at a certain level) categories … I must then generate a new menu of each branch corresponding to the K2 category (using your component again in the menu creating procedure).
This is a manual process and I would like to know if there are any more easy ways?
Let me know if you need more visual explanation.

February 19, 2016 at 7:33 am #886633I would like to be able to show all the K2 categories in the fron-end which you see if you use this component in the dropdown function (which displays all the K2 categories available). Displaying ALL categories in the front-end is, as far as I have understood, not possile to achieve in present version.
Therefore, I need to be able to create a menu item in the main menu which displays all the K2 categories, each being a menu item. So, when createing a menu item based on your compoent I must create a new menu item, select your component function to create the K2 category menu item. This is time consuming and not a good solution if you are doing updates on a regular basis.
Therefore I would like to know if it is possile to auto-generate a menu like this, as I will have between 50 – 100 K2 categories in my solution.
I have added admin details for backend-login

February 22, 2016 at 10:14 am #888298Hi @christofferl,
First, navigate to backend >>> Extensions >>> Module Manager >>> Sök & Filtrera här (JAK2 Extra fields Filter and Search module) >>> in Select categories >>> remove all >>> then choose only All Categories >>> go back to frontend then recheck.

February 26, 2016 at 12:31 pm #890838This is not good enough unfortunately. The reason is that I have root categories I do not want to be displayed in this dropdown. To fix this it would be nice to be able to to select a base category and then in some way mark it to select ALL CHILD categories.
I have seen this feature in other modules so it should be feasible.
Hope you understand that this is a major feature if your are wanting to do serious listings.
Looking forward to your comments.

February 29, 2016 at 9:08 am #892211Hi @christofferl,
Ok, I got your idea. Unfortunately, it’s out of what the module can do now but I raised an issue here so our development team can check this matter, hope that we will see it in next version.
