Hi. After successful installation of Quick Start – Joomla doesn’t allow me to login as Admin user either from back-end or front-end. It says “incorrect username, password. please try again”.
I’ve already deleted the “installation” directory from public_html.
I am too confident on username (which is admin) and password. Rather i reinstalled QuickStart when i got login fail error the first time !

    can anyone help ?

    Hi chiragtanna77 !
Hi , you must make sure that you enter correct pass for login , i think that there is problem in installation proccess. may be you have not enter password.

Hi. It’s Joomla 1.0.x and so there was no “Confirm password”. But i did put in proper admin password which was shown back to me in the next screen.

as you have not started populating your site yet, you could do a whole new install in ten minutes instead of taking days to debug this issue.

But i had pre-existing site, and there was a lot of content already created. Will this re-installation affect any of those content ?

    Thanks

you cannot do a quickstart install over a pre existing site as it is a complete install of joomla with the template already setup.

    is that what your did?

what you need to do is insatll the template and the extentions separately, but not on a live site. you should set it all up on a test site first.

do you have your existing site and database backedup from before you tried this?

Oops ! that’s what i’ve done. I had existing live site with back-end etc. up… and i didn’know Quick start would have completely reinstalled Joomla !
As test site was down for some reason… i experimented on the live site (stupid me !).
    Any recourse now ?

well you can restore to that point and just be glad you didn’t lose everything.

how are you backing up your site

joomlapack, joomla cloner, or raw download

    Hi mj1256,

By the way, isn’t there a silverline if i flagged “Drop Existing tables”, as well as “Back tables up” at the time of this joomla installation ?
If not, then we’ll follow the Backup restore procedures.

no, you had best restore from back up

did you use joomlapack or joomlacloner, just follow their install method

    if not
of you have the database file, just create a new database with the same name and password and import the backup into it.
upload the backup files and your good to go
