August 31, 2009 at 6:40 am #315783I guess you are right. It is good to have a good brand name like that and I can understand that Hung and JA have something to be proud of in the name.
Thanks also for the links and the info.

August 31, 2009 at 8:16 pm #315919After taking a look at the screenshot of Teline III here are a few wishlist items that I have:
1. Make it possible for a menu to be located at the very top (this is particularly useful as a Quick Links Menu)…I’ve attached an example of my implementation on one of our sites (this was something that was not included in Teline II).
2. Please make the Login Module appear in the top right of the site, somewhere near the Search button…the way Teline II did it was very nice, even though it was using Highslide to accomplish the effect…but with Joomla sites nowadays it can be a pain to find the login button so it would just be so much better if the login button was located in a useful area on every page such as in the top right next to the search.
3. Make the dropline menu smart enough to handle overflow text (rather than just creating a new row). In my attached image I’ve kind of described how this could work. Implementation-wise it may require your menu code to notice a menu item with the name “More” and then convert all the items following it into a little dropdown menu located at the end of the dropline row. Even better would be to make it so that the each menu item in the dropline bar could in turn be a dropdown menu. So we’d have this really cool hybrid dropline/dropdown menu system (one of the detractors of the dropline is its limited horizontal width so adding this capability would make it really nice to use in pretty much any situation…in our case we have a ton of different departments/divisions that would make things really hard if we were to use the dropline). One of my other big wishes (though I’m not sure whether it’s likely to come true or not) would be built-in support for some of the following components:
jxtended Magazine or Catalog
JoomSuite Resources
JoomlaWorks K2Or even just some kick-ass improvements to com_content and turn that into your own custom component (let’s say com_jacontent). I’ve been working for a while now on my subcategory additions to com_content, but in the frontend there’s still the missing ability for assignment of users to individual categories. In all of my research into the various solutions available for Joomla at this time, there isn’t anything simple that just works well enough for me to use in an environment like mine (college where we have many different content editors)…jxtended’s Control component works but is too complicated. All we really need is the backend ability to assign users to one or more categories (or one or more articles) and have the frontend take those settings and limit each user to adding content into those categories (or only editing those articles)…additionally, if each user could have the ability to create additional subcategories if needed that would be even better.
Sorry, for the long message but content editing for a many user situation like mine is just relatively hopeless at the moment in Joomla 1.5 and it would be awesome if JA and/or Teline III would solve all my problems :-).

Many of the modifications on your “wishlist” can be accomplished by respositioning items/modules within the index.php code and modifying the relative CSS – though I do like your “Quick Links” suggestion.
As for some of the commercial extensions you mentioned – you have to understand that JoomlART cannot simply purchase the kind of license required for global implementation of these extensions and then pass them off at no additional cost to the user. Sure, it would be nice, but it would not make a whole lot of sense on the business side of JA. Most of those extensions are developed sot hat you, as the user, can install and implement them yourself for your particular customization needs.

August 31, 2009 at 8:35 pm #315925Can you share any info the template styles? I realize that this is a news style template, but it would be nice to adapt it to different type of sites. It seems like there is not much emphasis on colors, graphics, style, etc.

I think you misunderstand me in what I mean about “built-in support” for the extensions I listed…all it means is having built-in template overrides for those components so they’ll look good out of the box when used with the template, there’s no request for Joomlart to purchase any licenses at all in this situation, they’re just adding styles for popular components.pedrox Friendpedrox
