jonathaneustace;135093I do think the template is nice. However I would like to see something “out of the box” as well.

You know what I’d like to see . . . one of you with your “out of the box” chants actually offering up some suggestion(s) as to what you would consider “out of the box.”

    😎

I actually use the term out of the box quite often and I like the idea of something new, different in many areas of life. It is not just that I was copying, but using it as it was already mentioned in the thread.

But just because it is used, doesn’t mean that the person has to come up with the concept of the new template. I would like something new, but right now can’t think of exactly what. But then that is not my job, either. I thought of looking around at some sites, getting ideas, something fresh, maybe a new approach to something, but I didn’t look yet and don’t have any concrete ideas. That doesn’t mean that I would not like an out of the box template. But I better stop here or I will get us all into some quagmire of a discussion, rather than work on some website.

    Have a wonderful day.

So here we are in July and the second June template has arrived;)

It looks ok but still needs some tweaking (though having said that I some has been done since I last looked)

As for the out of the box looks, yes it is hard but templates are beginning to look formulaic. The obligatory slideshows etc. Everything looks like a little re-arrangement and a change of background graphics.

I too am lost for ideas of what to change.

That’s what I was talking about. Going online, looking around and getting some ideas. Here are some really good ones, although maybe not all can be done in Joomla. Where I am it’s time to hit the hay, as they say, so I’ll bookmark this one and get back to it later and get some ideas and inspiration. Thanks mfcphil for the link.

There are maybe 2 or 3 interesting ones there . . . but most of them are god-awful annoying.

Perhaps when JA moves to their one template a month schedule (supposedly to start with August 2009), they will come up with some designs that will better satisfy the “never satisfied.” 😉

What may seem “obligatory” to one might very well be a wanted/essential option to another. I, for one, WANT the slideshow option available in the JA templates. Doesn’t mean you have to use it, but it’s there for you should you choose to.

Another example along these lines … I would very much like for JA to start incorporating the “JA Login” module as an option within ALL of their future templates. Doesn’t mean that I would have to use it for each and every one, but it is there and readily available to/for me should I choose to activate it.

You can never have too many available options, IMHO

Am I saying something stupid when I say that I miss a login module in the demo? This can be easily added later, I guess.

It will be the standard log-in box that you put left or right :(( I prefer the hidden ones

ME TOO !!! (hence, my wish for JA Login module to be included in ALL templates from now on . . .
as well as a step-by-step tutorial on how to incorporate it in with existing templates (so that it works)

What is this ‘hidden log-in box’ you’re talking about? :-[ A login module which you can’t see?

when you need to click a log-in button and the module appears!!

I like the idea of incorporating it in the modules, but having a explanation of how to incorporate it would be even greater. I think these tutorials is one area where JA could stand to make some improvement.

Last couple of months, there are just boring templates from Joomlart. It seems that there are nothing new with new templates, just bits and pieces from previous templates. I would like to see some more smashing templates.

Joomlart used to be a good template site…
