March 13, 2009 at 4:52 am #139068The inspiration come from a request of silu3. I think many of us at the from are from a web development company so creating this kind of design can be useful.
Let’s have a look and comment. I know some may feel it is not perfect but as an experience of Opal’s preview, we had learnt from your opinion and recreated the final version out of all expectations

March 13, 2009 at 12:24 pm #295753I don’t know what he or she is talking about, :)as usual:D BUT this one looks very impressive, where is the problem, I love this template. Even perfect with some VirtueMart for a high gloss online shop storefront.
Thanks again, and it is still getting better and better, what’s the point to complain about here???
So, heads up to Joomlart.com, from nothing comes nothing and from here comes something .
I really hope the thread won’t be filled with too much of “looks like Yoo or Rockettheme” from those who always complained about JA should make some more sites like those 2 clubs etc… :D:D:D:D:D

March 13, 2009 at 12:42 pm #295760One comment I would like to make about this and some of your other templates is choice of colours for text. It is quite hard to read the text in the bottom modules as grey on grey is hard to read on some monitors. Tha same went for the menus in the default ja zinc template. Many people with older monitors had trouble reading it so I had to lighten the shade of the text.
Checking colours hilite modules is needed too. One in particular stood out, the brown hilite in ja zinc, it looked fine until you had a link in the box as the link colour is set to the same as the background.
Overall your templates agre very good but minor things like this should be ironed out. A task that would probably be easier when you go to one per month.

That’s the beauty of a TEMPLATE . . . . you can change ANYTHING you want within it – color, text, images, positions, graphics, etc.
– most of the time, very easily accomplished within the relative CSS class / idmunders Friendmunders

March 13, 2009 at 5:26 pm #295809I actually think it looks like a really good design. I’m not to crazy about the Opal colors like bright red and yellow, but this type of color scheme looks good, especially the white body color.
Hopefully we will have some background options for the header section, but the body and side columns look good. And the JA Slideshow is a must, along with the Content Slider and Highslide extension would be awesome. Please don’t make us wait to long for this one. 🙂
Just a few thoughts. I do agree that the text is often very hard to read on these templates. I look forward to having a white background for the body content. I would also suggest the option of having the body color some shade of white. Many of the extensions in the market place are either black or some shade of white/gray gradient. Trying to use these gradient white/gray extensions on a colored background is problematic.

Number one, you do not speak for “all JA members.”Number two, what is disappointing to you may be very pleasing and exciting to another. Remember, also, these are only TEMPLATES – which means they are merely shells to start with. What you need to do is take the shell that you have been provided and customize/modify it into something special – making it your own. That is the whole point to templates.

March 13, 2009 at 5:37 pm #295815Hung – This may be a dumb question, but is there a chance that we could be seeing the JA Ruby template soon?
I noticed the logo says March 1st and we are half way through the month, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I don’t want to put to much development effort in the Opal theme if this one is coming soon. This template is almost exactly what I was looking for.
One more thought, can the logo position be adjusted in this template? For longer company or website names, the names may run into the navigation menu.
Thanks!

This is the 3rd March template, JA Opal, JA Nickel and JA Ruby, all will be released in March, so is it important when exactly as long it is March and March 2009…?;)
