March 13, 2009 at 9:50 pm #295860I’m just trying to get an idea on the timing. The preview for JA Cooper seem like it took forever and then I was a bit disappointed following it’s release. I’m trying to stay hopeful this time around.
P.S. Can this template have some User positions above the body content. For some reason, the last few templates didn’t include any user positions above the content. This is great area to display a product scroller or product highlights.

Who are you to tell us not to listen to someone? are you JA? do you have shares in JA and some admin rights, are you a moderator? NO you are just an ordinary member here, just because you may not be able to understand his words and meanings does not give you special rights to dismiss his contributions, I’d rather hear his honest attempts at communication than your way ot rants and pseudo philosophy

Tom,
as you insist on pointing out to us all that a template is a starting point and we are responsible for all modifications, big or small and re arranging modules etc. While I partly agree with that comment and conceed a certain amount of iindividualityis needed as far as content and direction is concerned with devekloping a web site from a template.
I speak for myself here , I do not have the skills or at present the time to learn how to major re design the templates above and beyond minor colour /header / content variations.
As you feel so strongly we should all be able to do these mods, seriously in good humour and opinion, how about you sit down and provide some tutorials on module repositioning css etc instead of just saying go ahead and so it?
I am incapable of designing a joomla site from scratch that’s why i buy the templates, For some that’s the sole reason to have a template and qs system in the first place.
I can mod them sufficiently via content and imagery changes so they differ enough from JA content and other to be slightly individual that’s probably all I particularly need others may insist on far more customisation.
Can we look forward to many complete tutorials on how to affect major changes to latest JA templates, so we can all have totally different template based sites

Actually, this reponse from you, the ranting front consisting of you ShannonN, phil_luckhurst and dumindard, as one can nicely see in the socializing bunch of thank yous to your pointless stuff, it is funny, you are truely someone who has too much free time and is bashing any day all day here at Joomlart.com against anyone who is satisfied with what JA delivers. Well, if I would be a moderator, I would have banned you for bashing against Joomlart.com all the time, you are bad for business as you bash and bash and always just rant against the template club you seem to like, for what, you came and come up with stuff like, “JA has robbed members their 2nd template of this month, JA is a rip-off, there are rumors against lawsuits and JA, bla bla blab..”
Do you honestly think that because of you we now get 3 template this month??? NO, because the nice people here deserve it without needing to take your rants into consideration.
I mean, what do you do here??? What??? Nothing positive!!! You annoy the most here, when do you have enough and leave us here and change to some other club??? Please, soon!!! We are satisfied and when we are not than we say it once but not like you….

March 14, 2009 at 10:38 am #295909Just in case you missed it ShannonN, I would like to thank you for helping me to adjust my site and improve the asthetic. It must have taken quite a bit of thought and time way above what you would normally expect from many users and it is good to see you helping others in a similar way.

March 14, 2009 at 12:51 pm #295928NAV MENU –
Okay, I thought I would change to a lighter subject. I like the menu system in the JA Ruby preview, but my concern is for a logo and web site names that are longer and will run into the menu system. I like the Magento site menu system. Perhaps if the menu was below the logo, it would work out better. My current menu has over 7 items and my logo is much longer than the Ruby title. Here are some good site examples – magento, apple, hyperdesk.
P.S. I think I like the original preview of this template. It looks like you removed the white body content in the last screen shot. Now we are back to gray again. Please keep the body content white. It’s easier to read the text.

That is quite easy to achive and only takes a couple of code adjustments. When you are setup, post this question and I am sur either myself or someone else will help you achieve this.

March 15, 2009 at 1:35 am #296014I was referring to the fact that it looked remarkably similar, a bit too similar, to another site I saw recently. Cant’ find what it was.

March 15, 2009 at 12:55 pm #296073Another thought… It seems that the “You Are Here” (breadcrumbs) should be at the top top above the body content. I always thought it would be easier to navigate at the top. Just my 2 cents.

March 16, 2009 at 6:23 am #296208I just looked at the Nickel template and commented on the breadcrumbs in the middle of the page, now I find them close to the bottom! This makes no sense.
This template is much better thought out than Nickel which seemed disjointed, but why put the breadcrumbs at the bottom. If they must be at the bottom, can they at least be repeated after the header where they would at least make sense.
This is one of the things about some of the templates that has been driving me nuts. Some are at the top above VERY large headers which makes no sense either. I don’t know about the rest of the world, but I use these quite a bit when navigating around a website. If you put them where they don’t make sense, then why have them at all? No one will use them where they are.
Other than that, nice template that I will probably use if there is a lighter color header available in the package. Not white, just lighter. Too dark for my tastes….
As always, just my humble opinion.

I have to agree with all of your comments. Very good points… including the body content color.
